Former Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery will hold talks with Arsenal on Monday about their vacant manager's job, according to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

The 46-year-old Spaniard was sacked as PSG manager earlier this month despite having led the French side to a domestic treble.

Arsenal are currently searching for a successor to Arsene Wenger with former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta also under consideration.

Imo Mourinho is a generation removed from the current reality.

His best success imo came with players who bought into old school work ethic and his methods. At this point kids and even 26-28 year olds don't listen and are on headphones and iPhones.

I just don't think he knows how to engage them anymore and thats where he is losing talents and results

yup, certain managers just grow long in the tooth and don't adapt.

Wenger, Kenny, to a certain extent benitez (hes been unlucky to be joining at bad times but he's done terrible of late recently at big clubs), Bielsa and the list goes on

Managers just get old and don't know how to adapt.

If you mean Dalglish - <laugh> - he came out of a 12 year retirement to do us a favour and do us a favour he did.

Benitez won the championship with Newcastle and achieved a top half finish this season - that's not terrible. He's also won a trophy or 2 at every club he's managed.

Yea he did you a favour but his downing Carroll philosophy was past it.

Benitez has done well at the smaller clubs but since his Liverpool and Valencia heyday he isn't quite the manager he was. Couldn't manage the egos at inter or real and didn't really achieve much at Napoli.

Yes he done well at Newcastle but you could apply that to most managers at that level.

And the common factor between Inter and Real. He followed Maureen. Broken teams by a man who destroys the future of a club.

Napoli, he took them from Serie A also-rans and EL hopefuls to challenging for the title and into the CL. Hardly not achieving much... its all relative.
He also got the best out of what was left of Chelsea's season and won a trophy (which won today would have meant alot more)

Chelsea fans like to sh!t on him, but he still won you a European trophy. Think he has learnt from his mistakes of taking stupid jobs like chelsea and madrid.

Dalglish I agree with, but he would probably admit that too and has no interest in management other than helping us out of the Hodgson pit.

Wenger I actually think would do a good job at International level, lost his way with recruitment but is still a good tactician and man manager.

To be fair Benitez took Jose’s European champions and destroyed them!

    By taking over as manager

He won us a cup after 12 years in retirement - I will take that along with the out dated 'philosophy' if that's what it was.

    I disagree on Benitez <ok>

I have to say I agree with Bobby about Kenny (I've got my hard hat on).
He will always be a club legend and he did a job to take the nasty taste of feathers out of our mouths, but he was of a different era in footballing terms and we needed to move with the times.

He still had good players at real. He took over mourinho but no way we're they as bad as benitez made them.

Conte did fine with mourinho side last season.

As for Napoli they barely challenged and didn't even qualify in his final last season after spendinga lot of money. Pretty similar to how it ended for rodgers

I didn't disagree with Bobby about him being ''long in the tooth''. I was pointing out that he wasn't a manager, he was retired long since so shouldn't have been lumped with Wenger and Bielsa who are both long standing active managers. He said there was a long list of such managers so why not use some of them.

It was an epic fail anyway using Dalglish as his out dated methods got us to not one but two cup finals, both of which we won - by rights. How much more could football fans ask.

Also on the Rafa- Real management. I think he was extremely naive by taking that job. It was clear that players, fans and board wanted Zidane, experience being the only reason he wasn't appointed. Therefore the board didn't back Rafa cause they knew he wasn't going to be there long, the players virtually downed tools cause he wasn't the man they wanted and the fans refused to get behind him as again he wasn't the one they really wanted.

Its hard for a manager when nobody really wants them there, but Rafa knew that going in and that's why I feel he was naive in believing he could overcome all that.
