Not sure how that know Ipswich will have a bigger budget than us? Yes, they can offer Championship football, but we must be an attractive option now with all our debt wiped out and ambitious owners in place.
Yeah I imagine that as we stand now we must be at least as attractive as the majority of teams in the championship. We did well to get anyone remotely decent to agree to manage us during the debacle that was the last few years of Short's ownership but it's completely different now.
We don't know the full story behind Donald's takeover yet mate. The fact is that we're a league 1 team with a recent history of continuing downward spiral. Without being unduly pessimistic, which goes against my grain, I'd prefer to wait and see just who this new guy is, the money behind him and the level of his ambitions before comparing our potential with teams a league above us.
True, I'm assuming that we'll have money and ambition, but if we don't have either it will be a different story. I think we will though.
Not keen on Stam at all, doesn't seem to be a good manager to me. I hope he doesn't get it if he is actually a candidate.
Appleton, super kev as number 2 and Ken way in to work on mentality. Move Stockdale to head of Academy, give bally the vacant 1st team coach position. That would do me nicely. Edit: and let Dickman go.
With you. He had a fluke season then a ****e one. Couldn’t change it, couldn’t arrest the slide. Every bit the kind of manager that’s failed us since Keane, bar Sam.
They paid off his entire contract and brought in the bloke they wanted when they got big Sam in. Everyone wins there. Hardly disgraceful or reason to want them relegated.
My reasoning for the opinion is more based on the way the fans have gone about this - they acted like the mags and feel entitled to things they blatantly aren't. They were crap when he joined and struggling to find a way away from the relegation zone - they hired him to do a job and he exceeded that - and the fans wanted him gone! And they haven't got anyone in yet have they?
I thought they were appointing Silva. I'm not going to get my back up about them treating him badly when he left us high and dry. Not sure why anyone would empathise with him.
I wouldn't want to stand in anyone's way when the international job appears. He ****ed that up - but I think he was gone even if that hadn't happened - he'd have walked away from Short as he wouldn't have got what he wanted (same as he did at Palace) - wouldn't have blamed him for that! Just an opinion mind but some of their fans have been complete arseholes about it! This would be a boring forum if we all had the same opinion though!
