Jeffrey Ross Hyman was born in Queens, New York in 1951. He formed the Ramones and took the stage name Joey Ramone. At first, he was the drummer, but he became the lead singer when Dee Dee struggled to sing and play bass at the same time. (d) 2001.. This is supposedly about when Johnny Ramone stole his girlfriend, Johnny being a right leaning Republican!...
69...Dusty Hill (bassist, keyboardist, co-vocalist of ZZ Top) was born Joseph Michael Hill in Dallas in 1949.. This was always the first song played on the video jukebox in our pub, can't think why?..
This was my Fathers favourite song . My Oldest Niece sang it at his funeral , she is good , she sang with the Winchester choir . Enya is brilliant IMHO
Here’s Pete showing he has a great voice as well as being a great guitarist and songwriter. This is getting on for my favourite of his, even if the YouTube title is wrong!
Posting this performance of Baba O'Riley from The Pyramid stage at Glastonbury 2015 because it's one of my all time favourite songs, and I was there in the crowd that night and it was pure magic.
Am I right in thinking that Glastonbury isn't too far away from you Chilcs? 2015 was my first time and I came back in 2017. Probably going to try and get tickets again in 2019 too. Do you go often?
“Live at Leeds” on of THE greatest live albums ever! And their performance at Woodstock. Stunning. If you haven’t seen it, look it up
Yes, Pilton is only about 10 miles away from me. I used to go every year, but a few years back I fell out with the person I worked for at the Festival, through no fault of my own, so I haven’t been since. 2015 was my last one, sadly. The only time I’ve ever paid to get in was the first time I went in 1990. Since then I’ve always had a job there, unpaid but a free ticket and (some) food. I just watch the best bits on TV but you don’t get any idea what it’s actually like to be there, there really is nothing like it anywhere else!
Ahh that's a shame. You must have seen some fantastic gigs there over the years though! What are your highlights? I must say that I enjoy watching the highlights when I get back, but you get to relive the moment that way. Glastonbury is definitely a special festival! The scale of the place is something I don't think you can really understand until you've been there. In 2015 on the Sunday we packed our tents down, put them in storage and then partied all night until the coach left the next morning. That night we discovered areas that we had somehow missed the previous 4 days despite all our exploring!! Last year I was pretty devastated as The Killers played a 'surprise' gig on the John Peel Stage, but the crowd was so huge that the crowd overflowed out of the big top into the field it was in and into the adjoining fields where I was stood. I was surrounded by a crowd of people desperate to see them, but it just wasn't possible, so we filtered between people's tents stood there and sang along to every song along with everyone else. You could just about see the top of the big top over some trees, but you could hear them, and so we made the most of that. Thankfully I got tickets to see them in London later that year so I've seen them and heard them now.
Too many highlights to mention them all, but among my favourites has to be Ry Cooder with Flaco Jimenez on the Acoustic Stage, Steve Winwood on the same stage, and on the Pyramid, R.E.M., David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, the Stones, the Who of course, and best of all, Neil Young. But I used to love the smaller stages as well, Wolfstone on the Avalon Stage was a fab night, as was Banco de Gaia in the Croissant Neuf, and Ozric Tentacles on the Other Stage. One of these days I must write down my Glasto Autobiography, although I might leave that to my youngest daughter, who went to her first Glastonbury aged 6 months, and is now 25 years, having missed about 4 festivals in her life!
I love fricken youtube!...I was looking for a Belly song because it's their Lead Guitarist's birthday and discovered that they have only just released their first full album in 23 years!...and it sounds pretty damn good after an initial listening... Here is the lead single from Dove from the Alt Rock quartet, Tanya is definately back on form....
