His actual play doesn't look impressive, but the fact is, the man scores goals. The point of a striker is to score and that's exactly what he does. Definitely our best striker atm until/if Ba gets his act together.

    Darren Bent springs to mind.

Yeah agree with Chappaz.. he's ''overall'' style of play isn't that great but he pops up with the goods(which is goals) and he seems to be that sort of player who has a GOOD mix of everything. Good height(6ft 1''), decent pace(Not Walcott-esque but a decent amount), his mobility and agility is good and overall I think he's a good finisher.

Best can be a decent player, he just doesn't have finishing skills(except tap-ins).
Maybe he just needs more games to get more confident in that area.

We still need a new striker no matter what.

His second goal was hardly a tap in, he had to work it to be fair to him.

He's not just about scoring goals, he does a lot of off the ball work or knock downs etc.

He did actually score against Scunthorpe on Thursday and worked his arse off in that game.

To be fair hes like Nolan, scores goals and offers little else, difference is because hes an actual striker he can get away with, aslong as the goals dont dry up, whereas Nolan was a liability in other areas at times.

  12. It's the same with Bent though, it's not as if he does a lot with his team, all he does is stand next to the oppositions back four or basically just in the box, and hunts for a goal.

I've always liked Best since we bought him. He just needs to improve his accuracy more, but he always gets himself into decent goal scoring positions. He's decent enough to have around anyway, especially in games we're youre attacking a lot and creating lots of chances.

I think Best takes far too much criticism on here.

He wins more headers than anyone else in the squad (excluding Saylor).

    He scores.

And no one can fault his attitude.

    I like Besty.

no ive said this for the whole summer, no one included him in there teams, i think hes so under rated, hes a quality finish and hes actually decent with the ball :L he has a chest of sponge! the ball just drops at his feet, although he definatly got taught the offside rule by shola...

He was, but again, it comes down to the golden rule of scoring goals. Best is the one getting them in the net atm. Once Ba starts getting the goals, then maybe we can re-evaluate who our most threatening striker is. Until then though, Best takes the lead.
