I never said I'm not a fan / support the Royal Family , but this is crap . Princess Anne for example is Fantastic , and the Queen . I also have every sympathy for them , because they live their lives in a gold fish bowl . Each to their own HE ( Harry )and I know he's not the only one , all the deserves all the credit also for being in the military , front line as well !
The coverage was a bit sycophantic at times but I like it that we are a monarchy. Some people get a bit carried away with it all, but I like the spectacle of events like trooping the colour and days like these. Republics are probably cheaper to run but they are ten a penny and boring. The Royals themselves I can take or leave, they are a bit aloof and struggling with modernity. Harry is liked because he seems a bit more approachable and I have time for him anyway because he put himself in the firing line when he went to Afghanistan.
Nail on the head. The younger royals are more down to earth and as you say Harry put his life on the line for his country. The Queen, though I feel has changed - she is 92 and think how set in her ways she should be, but seems to try to adapt to the 21st century royal family. People moan how much they cost, but the A list royals bring a lot more back into the country. Some of the peripheral royals though I think take the piss a bit.
Another advantage IMHO is , Imagine if there was no royal family & we had Thatcher ( Or Labour / Lib dem opposite number ) as the top !
Apparently the Royal Family cost each person in the UK 56p....according to figures in 2015. And even if they didn't exist, we would still have to keep the Palaces in good nick as they are historic buildings.
Exactly right . IMHO though , Harry is an peripheral , STRONG rumour has it , Charles is not his Father .
I used to believe that rumour, and think it was Cpt James Hewitt as they are both Ginger, but the older he gets the more of Charles I can see in him - the ears, balding head and his eyes are Charles. The ginger comes from Diana’s side. Isn’t her brother ginger?
Doubt if this would happen but if it continues....... “A little-known rule of law says that if you use someone else's land for a long enough period of time, you can actually acquire legal title to it. This rule is called “adverse possession.” In order to claim adverse possession, a person must use someone else's property for a period of years.
That is why I keep on top of it. Quite a selling point to have a drive and a parking space in a town. I may have to consider putting a lockable bar on the space....though I would set it back a bit as I don't want to make it difficult for law-abiding citizens to turn out of their spaces.
Or one of those posts that lock in the up position and at the same time allows plenty of room for neighbouring cars. Not too expensive I would think.
Only problem is that Diana didn't meet Hewitt until Harry was two. Hewitt has always denied it. Harry looks like the Spencers rather than the Windsors....that's all.
