    What you on about dude? Who are 'the people'?

    Where else on the pitch do you get sent off for commiting a foul while attempting a tackle? Why should you in the penalty box?

    Surely the penalty award is enough, just like it has been since forever.

    Yeah I've been discussing it here Chief agreeing that he was right to not send him off...you on the beer or something?

    Your post said the penalty should be enough as it 'forever' has been which it hasn't. 2 years ago that was a stonewall red.

    In 2016, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) relaxed rules on giving red cards for fouls committed inside the box.
    The rule stated that players who commit a foul to deny a goalscoring opportunity will no longer automatically be sent off. The previous 'triple-punishment' rule required a red card - and therefore a suspension - as well as the award of a penalty under those circumstances.
    However, players committing accidental fouls that deny a goalscoring chance, as it was deemed in Jones' case, will be cautioned instead under the new rule.
