Charlton Athletic can confirm the following players will leave the club following the expiration of their current contracts:
    • Jordan Beeney
    • Matt Carter
    • Archie Edwards
    • Brandon Hanlan
    • Louis-Michel Yamfam
The club would like to thank those players released and wish them well for the future.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Kashi’s contract has also expired, but the club are continuing discussions with the player about the possibility of extending his stay at The Valley.

Although Johnnie Jackson’s retirement means that his playing career has come to an end, his current contract with the club will continue in a coaching capacity.

Academy graduate Regan Charles-Cook has signed a one-year extension, as have Ryan Blumberg, Jamie Mascoll and Joshua Umerah, while Mikhail Kennedy has signed a short-term six-month deal.

Elsewhere, youngsters Albie Morgan, Ben Dempsey, Alfie Doughty, Luke Carey, Jordan Zemura and Dan Birch have all signed their first professional deals with Charlton as they step up from the U18s to join Jason Euell’s U23 squad for the 2018/19 season.

Euell will also add striker Wilberforce Ocran and centre-back Toby Stevenson to his ranks following successful trials at the back end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Finally, Ben Amos, Jay Dasilva, Stephy Mavididi, Sullay Kaikai and Michal Zyro have all returned to their respective parent clubs following the expiration of their loan deals.

The club would like to extend thanks to all those players for their efforts during the season.

There will always be fresh youngsters from the academy, cost very little and they can throw them in at the deep end.

Edit: I understand six of the side which won the U18 competition have signed pro.

Albie Morgan, Luke Carey, Ben Dempsey, Alfie Doughty, Jordan Zemura and Dan Birch are all excellent players, with good technique. Well schooled by that unsung Charlton Coach Sergei Baltacha.

Morgan is a goal scoring midfielder as is Carey. Ben Dempsey is a defensive midfielder who can cover at full back. Doughty is a very quick left winger with an excellent cross. Jordan Zemura reminds me of Konsa, can play at right back and centre half. Dan Birch is a right back with a fearsome tackle. He is lacking a bit of pace.

Regan- Charles Cook is capable of mounting a challenge to get into the first team. Jaime Mascoll has also shown great promise.

Watching Coventry City tonight - a really good young team who play excellent passing footbal.

They have got a young lad up front called Bayliss who looks like he is going to be a very good player. (Reminds me of Dele Alli)

The Sky Blues are definitely worth raiding for players when we get that takeover <whistle>
