Island? If anyone was marooned on that, they'd drown

Wish him success, it won't be easy

I can barely contain my apathy.

Still, could be worse, some poor f&ckers are likely to get Lambert.

In the meantime, like any newly appointed R's manager, he gets my full support.

Had to Google "vulp" - relieved it wasn't what I thought it might be!

I for one really enjoyed our style of play during his first short stint with the club and am looking forward to more of the same. His stated desire to play attractive football is exactly what we have all been demanding for many years. As for success, our ambition is probably still very limited but we should focus on the fact that without the results of those 2-3 months with McClaren in tow in 2013/14 we would have never made the play-off finals. There is hope for something good IMO.

Mistake in there, the £75m wage bill we had in the Championship promotion season is not the highest ever in that league. That honour belongs to Newcastle, who spent £112.2m on wages in their last promotion season.

Let’s not give ourselves records we haven’t earned. Otherwise Mr Whittingham seems to sit on the fence a bit.

    Just glad it want Sherwood.
I’m pleased with McClaren, hopefully he’ll bring some new players in and sort Washington out one way or another.

Sorting out Washington involves offloading him. Time to cut our losses.

Good appointment imo. Someone who can take the youngsters to the next level from where Ramsy has left them (after doing a fantastic job).
Some money for a reliable striker and we can be expecting a play-off finish, next season.

I think this is a definite step forward.

McClaren has a well-deserved reputation as good coach and I welcome having someone of his ability working with our first team. Over recent years, his record has been a bit more mixed but I think that's football: there's very few coaches who will have found themselves in a variety of situations - different chairmen, different quality players, different budgets - and been consistently successful. We have often brought in players who have done well at their previous clubs and then succumbed to the "QPR effect" (Perch, Cousins and Bidwell spring to mind), failing to reproduce their past levels of performance at our club. I think McClaren could reverse the "QPR effect" and actually improve players. Given our crop of emerging youngsters, this is what we need!

In contrast to Ollie, I look forward now to hearing someone speak intelligently about football, demonstrate consistent and credible team selections, play some attractive football.... and win a few away matches.

Good luck, Steve, you have my full support.

Totally surprised ... didn’t see that coming at all.
I’m with Rodney (not a plonker this time).
It’s a step up. Of course he will have to show success with the results ... while he has players he can work with (and improve), he has lost a few good players before he starts... so it won’t be an ‘easy from the off’ appointment. I hope to see his coaching improving players, we’ve missed that for some time... it will save us time and money on the player roundabout and allow us to focus on the areas we can spend our money wisely and see a team that is improving.
Good to see Ramsey being recognised this week too. You need a strong academy man in there - stick to what you’re good at and keep bringing in good players and bringing them on.
Good luck for the coming season Steve ... our fan base expects!! God knows we could do with some cheer and a season to shout about. I’m sure it won’t be smooth ... after all, this is QPR.

Love the optimism but let's hope we're not taking on his entourage as well and dispensing with the backroom that has unearthed some gems this season and nurtured those previously discovered.
