There's some kind of agenda. WIlshere's basically come out and called him a cnt. I agree. The "logic" in his decision making is baffling, his contradictions startling. On Wilshere: "we picked him, but he hasn't played for us" Erm. Trent A-A has NEVER played for England. On Shelvey: "doesn't fit into our "style" of football" Right. But Kyle Walker at Centre Back does? On style: ""I think it's being fearless in how we want to play" So picking no creative players is "fearless"? Jake Livermore on standby is "fearless"? On Jack Wilshere he moaned about him not playing. Comments on Adam Lallana: "It has been a frustrating season for him. Under normal circumstances he wouldn't be anywhere near the squad but he is a player we have a lot of time for" Couldn't really kick Shelvey and Wilshere any harder, could he? Shelvey decision is one factor, but honestly Southgate has made me hate this England team. I'll genuinely be delighted if we leave Russia with three defeats.
Whoa steady on, I still want to win the world cup you loon. I accept we won't and Southgate has made it even more unlikely, but come on, this our country being represented. Regardless what I think of Southgate and his decisions I'll still be 100% behind the team. I'm still very proud of this country and believe wholeheartedly nationalistic (in the patriotic rather than extreme sense of course!) I agree with a lot of the above though. His reasoning is almost as muddled as the selection itself.
Alright, might be overload. Perhaps a fairer assessment is to say Gareth has increased my apathy towards the tournament, in the sense of we were never going to come close, but a better squad might have been at least interesting to watch. As it stands I'm struggling to look forward to wasting 270 minutes watching the Iceland match on repeat three times.

I don’t think he is. The FA will have told him not to pick Shelvey because of the racist accusations last year and Southgate is too weak to tell them to do one. Everyone loves a conspiracy theory.
He also said something about how a player would fit into being around the squad for the duration of the tournament. Maybe he thinks the black (and white tbf) players would have a problem with him after the FA decided to brand him a racist.
