Buffon for Watford. You heard it here first ;)

Two days ago saw two sparrows fight to the death on the pavement. It was vicious with the victor hacking into the chest of the defeated. Nature can be cruel at times.

Here another sunny day. And the first carrots (late sowing this year after travels in April) have pushed their heads up. Nothing like a freshly pulled young carrot. And the bell chillies that I bought back from India are already up. The fruit is less than a cubic cm but the fire is like nothing I've tried before.

    Enjoy one and all

Not really sure Yorkie. We have many small birds that fly very quickly from one tree to another and it is not easy to tell them apart. My book on eggs suggests that it is a yellow bunting, as it has the right markings and the nest is in the right sort of habitat. It could even be a robin as I do have them come and join me when I am turning over some ground. I do not want to disturb it, so will leave it to carry on sitting.

Rather grey here this morning, but dry. Sun forecast for this afternoon. Grass cutting as it is getting long again, then I think Mme requires some muscle this afternoon to move plant pots around in the newly designed patio.

I really don't think this is my best year.

Got a call from my doctor's surgery this morning telling me to get to A & E asap as last week's scan found something on my lung

4 and a half hours I was there, I apparently have a pulmonary embolism (blood clots on the lung), so for the next few months I have to inject myself in the tummy to thin the blood.

    That means 3 injections a day and 4 on a Sunday <steam>

Sorry to hear that Dave but I'm sure you won't let it win.

I see the Canaries are off to Germany for two pre-season games in July. The first one is on the same day as the world cup final. Should be a quiet affair if Germany are in the final. But I can imagine for a few lucky Canaries it could make for a great 4 or 5 day trip.

Here's hoping that your year will start to improve from now on and that come the next season the Canaries will follow suit and you will be celebrating promotion this time next year. Good luck with everything :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sorry to hear that Dave. Yes I had the daily dose to stop the blood clotting after my op, followed up with a weekly blood test to make sure it wasn't getting too thin. At least I could fortify it with a glass of Bordeaux. Sure you will get over it, we will be keeping you in our thoughts.

Sorry to hear that Dave - but I think you are trying to copy Mrs Leo. She developed a blood clot - but in her heart - and the Welsh NHS were so incompetent they did not find it. Luckily a son in law who is a radiographer spotted it on a copy CD we had purchased of her scan. That is why we sold up in Wales and moved nearer London. Luckily she only has to self inject once per day - with a drug called Heparin (tinzaparin). Because of her cancer drugs she cannot take the oral form of blood thinner warfarin. At the moment her blood clot appears to be growing which is why since January she has to keep having extra scans and tests. She has a "normal" oncology CT scan on 30th May and then a cardiac MRI and a "normal " oncology appointment on 4th June. She was originally told her injections would be for 3 to 6 months but it is 5 years this week so I hope you respond better to whichever drub they are giving you.
We will keep you in our thoughts and hope this clears up for you soon.

Morning all. It is a lovely summer day here, although I woke to the sound of strimmers going full blast. The council workmen have spread cut vegetation all over the areas of grass that I cut yesterday and were looking quite neat and tidy.

Evening all. I had a good session with the physio today and next time I'm going to be doing some running on the treadmill, so one step closer to being back to playing softball.

One of those days when you could really get stuck into the gardening. I have lost count of the number of times I have walked from the house to the fields, but it is a quarter of a mile each way. Bits of me are complaining about all the lifting and pushing the barrow, and now I see that Mme who has also spent the day hard at it has gone to sleep. I just hope she doesn't need me to carry her up to bed. As she doesn't read this I can say that I have done enough heavy lifting for one day.

Morning all, some sun and some cloud, but dry. A gentle day today I think as tomorrow it is the monthly lunch Sunday with football friends. One is a Middlesbrough fan who has told me they still are not ready for life in the PL.
