First day of fasting just started here. With 85% of population fasting much easier to make sure you stick to it.
Timing is no problem either - you can hear the mosques announcing it everywhere.
Most of restaurants here keep curtains shut during day so very little temptation about.
Our HSE guy gave a talk yesterday on staying healthy during Ramadan - bet you dont get that in UK!

No - Born in Uk and lived there until I was 25, then been travelling world with work. Been here nearly 29years now though.

Converted to Islam when I married my Indonesian wife 23years ago. Always fasted with her but actually got into the religion properly a few years ago. Now I am the only white man in the mosque for Friday prayers!

Spend most of my time on Newcastle board but this was a great thread last year.

Lots to do and see here. Massive country (spans 3 time zones) and being made up of so many islands has a lot of variety.

Maybe not best time to come now. The return of around 1000 ISIS supporters from Syria and Iraq and the apparent failure of the ‘reducation’ courses has led to a prison riot , 3 suicide bombings and a suicide samurai attack in the last week or so.

Well that didn't start as planned

Kids wanted eggs, veggie sausages, waffles, hash browns, beans , corner yoghurts etc

No one touched the cereal and I had a cuppa, with the eggs, hash browns etc

The isis thing is a real problem currently.
Terror laws in this country mean you are guaranteed to be stopped and held for minimum of 2 hrs if Muslim and bearded. My mates came back from Spain and we're stopped at the airport.

Not funny really but I laughed at a guy who got stopped as he has a beard due to the trend here rather than being a practising muslim.

I do sometimes wonder if isis lot would be stupid enough to try and re enter with big beards and the Islamic type clothing? Surely you'd get a shave and dress in jeans etc?
