The first requirement of English football is 100% effort and DF pushes that to the limit. Oliveira was brought up on football in Southern Europe where, due to the climate, the game is not played at full pace. We have that in France where Northern teams like Lille play at a far higher pace than, say, Nice. Oliveira wasn't prepared to put in a shift, track back or robustly defend set pieces. That is probably why he has never settled at one Club. He was competing for a place against Cameron Jerome who was prepared to do all the things the English game and DF demanded and I also think he has the attitude problem of thinking that he is better than he really is. If, despite lack of effort etc, he scores 25 goals a season then any Manager will turn a blind eye to the downside but 3 goals in 31 games speaks for itself. Through no fault of either party a relationship between Farke and Oliviera was never going to develop and, in the interests of NCFC, Oliviera has to go. I would also suggest that the player forgets about the English Leagues and looks towards Spain or Portugal
Like I said, I'm not saying it's all down to him. I think he treated him badly from the start of the season, and his "striker tactic" has not worked all season. That's what I think is his problem. I've said on many threads and many chats with mates. I am still holding off wanting him sacked. I don't think he is good enough, but am willing to give him until half way through next season. If the first half of next season is all like this season. He's not got a leg to stand on. Because it has been dire. They keep rolling out the "Rebuild" "consolidating season" line. I've now heard a lot, that next season is the same. Even though they all said, "give him a season" he's only had 1 window". He would have had 3 windows by mid next season. A manager like Warnock can take a side from relegation to the premiership in 1 1/2 seasons. Working with what he's got. That's what a good manager should be able to do. You can't excuse all Farkes cock ups on the finances of the club.
Fair enough, if that's your take. However, my posts were really about Nelson Oliveira. The manager is another kettle of fish. I won't be judging him fully until several games into next season.
It wasn't about him being grateful, you're twisting it. It was about him saying the coach was bringing the best out of him.
Looking forward to seeing our new signing from Aberdeen https://redtv.afc.co.uk/tv/video/vod/3043 Worth a watch, hope he brings some of what he's done for Aberdeen to Carra Rud next season
I know mate, but my assessment on him was partly based on the tactics and roles he's been told to play. Which, but the looks of it, suits no striker we have ever played. So manager has to be mentioned. We are told to be patient and wait on players like Srbeny. Coz they have to get use to the tactics and training of DF. Srbeny looks non-league quality. I don't see him get much hate. Nelson now has to change his game to being a winger or defensive midfielder. But he gets lots of sh*t for not scoring as much anymore. I just want all players to be judged by the same measurements.
I wasn't twisting it. Are you ok? We usually get on, you seem really defensive on every comment I make. I've not been angry or aggressive or been wound up by anything. I'm just chatting. You seem pretty wound up. Are you ok?
I'm fine, having your opinion is also fine, I just don't think we're going to agree on this, that's all. We both want what's best for our club.
Thanks mate But I dunno what your annoyed at me about? Is it the Nelson thing? Or my view on Farke? Or something else? Or all? You know I'd never try to upset you. You are one of my favourite posters.
Not annoyed at all my friend. I'm just not sure Oliveira has what it takes to make it here. I think 1950's reasoning was sound in that respect. As for Farke, well, I'm not about to write him off yet, but you could well be right, next season will tell. We all have our opinions, and yours are certainly as valid as mine, and it's good to be able to discuss them.
Wait, what? I didn't say any of that, and I certainly don't hate you. I admire your passion for our club, and as you say, we've always got along. We just disagreed over Oliveira, That's all, nothing else.
Hate to butt in on this love fest, but I'm not at all convinced that Oliveira's performances are down to DF. I wonder whether he shies away from confronting CBs. We'll never know the answer, but there's certainly something gone wrong in his play. His conversion rate speaks volumes. As for Jerome, he's playing in a two striker formation at Derby and that takes pressure off. It can work in the Los league but soon gets found out in the PL, as we saw. I always liked CJ for his work-rate and commitment, but his finishing ran hot and cold, much like Oliveira's.
So PD is looking at Championship we may be able to pick up for free in the upcoming transfer window. Best you don't read the article FML!!! PS - Take your choice, as both Trybull and Watkins were free!!!! http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/canaries-free-agents-championship-listing-1-5521282
So finally we could get an Ameobi! A seriously uninspiring bunch, but with all the money p#ssed away, this is where we are. It would surprise me if we added more of Mackie's sort of age and likely not cheap wage demands, but if no better offers came in and we will struggle to afford any striker on the up it could happen, but more likely a German 3rd tier striker who will take time to adjust during another transitionary season. Bah!
Pretty sure the fact we pursued Tyrone Ebuehi (a young RB playing in The Netherlands) in January has only recently come to light. Good that the club weren't content with Pinto+Reed.
