I think it was on the old bbc 606 site that a spur life's the 100 players we'd been linked with that were wrong...and none actually got VDV <laugh>

Take your word for it. Getting on a bit too and busy being manager I guess. Unless you mean Alonso.

Yep. They'd suggested endless signings and missed the one that we actually did make.

They also printed rumours from supposed ITK's about a bunch of signings.
They missed the thread where we discussed making up a load of **** and backing up the guy that posted it, to see if anyone bought it.

I'm sure we already have project 'Rashford' on the go...granted it's gone quiet...but I think that's the one to work on.

ITK's reckon Martial is one of Poch's top targets so will be interesting to see if the media start talking of it. Highly, highly doubt that'll happen. No way would Utd sell to us. Only way it would if it involved a Rose/ Toby swap.

I bet he's already on more than our highest earner...we really are going to have to change our structure

  10. Martial for Toby (plus makeweight) is a mismatch IMHO. Sporadically excellent, mostly average, not sure that Martial would give us enough.
Rashford on the other hand...... <laugh>

He's not actually, mate, well depending on what to believe anyway, supposedly on £65k. We could easily give him a £20k-£30k pay rise without qualms.

I really like Rashford but I'd say Martial is miles better. He's a special talent that can do the unpredictable but he's being wasted by Jose.

I'd say Rashford has potential to be a great player, I'd go as far as saying Martial has potential to be a world class player.

Would actually be interesting to hear @littleDinosaurLuke and @Diego 's views on the pair. They'll know and see a lot more than us.

    Better than Son?

He's definitely the kind of competition we need if we are to move on.

Not right now but definitely potentially.

I love Sonny but I can't see him getting any better than he is (not that he really needs too as he's quality). Sonny's in that bracket of easily being one of the best attacking mids in the Prem but I think with Martial, with the right guidance, can be one of the best in Europe/ World, really think he's a special talent.

Martial has looked very good at times, but does it only fleetingly.
When he runs at pace, changes direction quickly with the ball under control and finishes clinically, he looks devastating.
If he was doing it 20 times per season, he would be world class, but he does it 3 or 4.
That might in part due to the manager's selections, formation and tactics not being favourable to him, but there also seem to be some issues surrounding him which might make you wonder about his temperament, commitment and attitude.

Rashford is a young player learning the game who seems to neither a centre forward nor a winger. He needs to have a clearly defined role and be given the chance to blossom in that role. Like Martial he has pace and ability which can be devastating.

Am I being pushy in saying I'm hoping we buy a player that can go straight into our team instead of Poch doing the whole, he needs 6 months of Poch's training regime?

Like Moura...I'd start him, would have started him. Nothing beats playing first team PL footy to get up to speed.

Look at VVD...hardly played for Southampton...straight in for Pool...and been affective

Ain't pushy, I think everyone wants that. It's just about who we can get. In terms of attacking mids, someone like Mahrez could easily get into our XI straight away.

Seri and Milinkovic-Savic would definitely get in at CM.

I'd ****ing cream myself if we signed any of them <laugh>.

I think it's hard for us to improve our first XI, though. Van Dyke was easy, because Liverpool had a weak area.
I'm not sure that we can bring in the finished article and afford it, to be honest.
Maybe a creative midfielder, but other than that I think we'd struggle.
