I don't want to watch the same old sideways show. Lets get some pace and skill injected and get Shelvey to supply the bullets. The likes of Sessegnon, Sancho, Sterling, Vardy and Rashford would come alive.
I suppose if he selects Henderson and Pickford and we win the damn thing, the mackems will be claiming the world Cup as well... #mackemlogic
No Shelvey or Lascelles then. Thought one of them deserved to be on the plane if not both. What a sackless piece of ****ing **** Southgate is. Same old **** = same result, i.e. we'll be lucky to get out of the group stage !
What a crock of ****e - still, on the plus side we've got Lascelles and Shelvey nicely rested for the start of next season.
Welbeck. Got laugh. He is ****e Loftus cheek. Well. Not for me like just yet. Thought shelvey and Vardy could be lethal on attack side and as a pressure release
I can safely say that is as boring as it gets. Is Southgate Pards in disguise? Young, Delph, Walker, Alexander Arnold, Trippier, Rose, Stones can all play full back. What is the thought process? Are full backs suddenly key to World Cup success? Bertrand must be livid. You have two lads who are late to the left full back role, and Rose who has barely kicked a ball all season. Sessegnon was clearly miles away from Southgates thoughts. Same goes for Lascelles, Shelvey and Sancho. Not even in the stand by list but Jake Livermore is. Milner nowhere in sight despite being instrumental in Liverpools form this season. Just a bewildering selections which lacks any creativity. We will be coming early after 3 displays of nothingness. If I had to compare what I anticipate we'll watch from England to a lifeform from the animal kingdom I'd go for: please log in to view this image
Apparently Shelvey's grandad wore a Panama hat when gardening and Lascelles is Tunisian for " f@ck you Southgate ". That's why they weren't picked.
Okay, we're all Lascelles and Shelvey fan boys. The obvious slight to the northeast aside, who exactly are the treasures of talent that Southgate should have picked ?
It's not that, mate, it's more that Southgate just makes himself look like a bumbling, brown-tongue tosser. Cahill, poor form, dropped for last two friendlies, back for World Cup. A-Arnold, 3 U-21 caps, no senior caps, straight to the World Cup. Loftus-Cheek has had a few okay games, far fewer than Shelvey, off to the World Cup. Phil Jones, useless players, off to the WC. Even looking at Livermore and Lallana as standby - Lallana isn't in the squad because he's played about 27 minutes all season - why is he on the ****ing standby list? He's in or he's not, he's not going to suddenly play a bunch of matches if he then needs to be called up. For me it's actually a very deliberate middle finger up at Newcastle. Maybe because he's ex-Villa, who knows, but to have THREE CM's on your standby list and none of them are Shelvey is a very deliberate action. Hell, you should have at least one forward on standby such as Walcott instead of Jake bloody Livermore. Southgate's a dreadful manager. Stupid fcker is basically aiming to play a back five. We'll be home from the World Cup in no time. You'll have Kane looking around for Erikson, Sterling wondering where De Bruyne is and Vardy hoping for a pass from Mahrez. Meanwhile the only English player who can provide those passes is playing on an Xbox. To be honest, whilst upset for the Toon lads, I'm delighted they're not going. Scarring experience.
Being fans of Lascelles and Shelvey has very little to do with it. I can even get away with Lascelles not being picked even if I do think he should have been. I also understand the rationale why you wouldn't pick Shelvey. Neither have been involved with the squad over the last two years. However there are some glaring errors that a blind man can see. The midfield issues should have made Shelvey a no brainer. Why on earth have we picked 6 guys in the squad who can play full back? (I've left Stones out of it) Why have we picked Cahill? He is in horrific form, massively in decline and it was debatable if he was good enough anyway? There is simply no need for 3 right backs even if you intend to waste Kyle Walker in a back 3. Alexander Arnold can play further up but its not natural to him. Where is the variation in the midfield options. We have Dier, Henderson, Loftus Cheek, Delph, Alli. None are great at dictating the pace of a game, none have any real creativity in their game. Delph is as more likely to get injured than Shelvey is to get sent off. We've selected a load of crabs and Alli who is good at bursting into the box. The other countries will be licking their lips at our predictability. Loftus Cheek is seen as the dynamic pick I assume... What is the justification for Rose? He has hardly kicked a ball and has lost his place to Davies. Phil Jones is a stretch but you could maybe understand it. Stones hasn't been great but I see why. Maguire is a good pick and deserves to go. The keepers are fine and the strikers are fine. We've overloaded with bit part players and options in none important areas. Of the 6 full backs (Delph, Young, Arnold, Walker, Rose, Trippier) - it would not surprise me if 4 of them never kicked a ball this tournament. Unless we are now classing Young and Delph as midfielders/wingers and Walker as a centre half. Which would be laughable. Players who have missed out who I think are better selections? Sancho, Lascelles, Shelvey, Tarkowski, Lallana, Wilshere, Milner (although it would have taken some arm twisting), Bertrand. We will see. However I will surprised if we get past the 2nd round. I wouldn't be at surprised if we managed to flunk out of the group to be honest. We will watch Henderson and Dier look really average because our manager has failed to balance his side. They will get a load of **** and it will be completely undeserved. I've always said Southgate is incompetent as his record suggests. This selections with his 6 full backs just confirms it.
