I think Doucoure has bigger clubs in his mind than Everton. Richarlison I think needs to stay, improve on his weaknesses and see where he is in a year’s time. Hopefully Gomey will still be around to be his ‘father’ for another year.

I am actually not sure if Everton fans will be too happy were they to spend big money on a 20 year kid who played well for 4 months...

Think they will be expecting bigger and better hence the reason Big Sam has gone.

He was too negative and dull for their ambitions.

Mind you whilst Silva did start well did have our share of iffy results even before his head was turned.

    Everton away for example!!

In time honoured fashion, everton can "go do one" so far as business dealings with Watford are concerned. Even so far as putting in a no sell on to everton clause as and when Doucouré and Richarlison do go on to bigger things.

Sounds like Everton and Silva are trying to claim we illegally approached Silva when the snake was at Hull.

    All getting very messy !

Hope it just doesn't distract from our business for next season .

  7. They can go whistle. But we really need to put this behind us very quickly because, as Mark says, it's getting messy.

What is it with clubs from Merseyside and illegal approaches? At least Liverpool admitted they were in the wrong, but still eventually got their man. That admission saved them from being punished for those actions.

Quick question chaps, how are Watford supposedly after compo for Silva given you sacked him?

Because he was sacked for negotiating with Everton while under contract to us.

Then why haven’t you taken this to the FA in the interim? Or have you?

And if that was the sole reason for his sacking why didn’t you get rid the minute the supposed tapping up happened?

I don’t see how you can sack him after a poor run of results and then say you’ve got rid as he was talking to us, and then claim compo after the fact.

Watford complained to the FA when it happened. That was made public.
He was not sacked because at the time all Watford knew was that Everton had made an illegal approach. It was not until later that it emerged he had agreed a deal with them and had also tapped up a couple of our players to go with him. Even so the club hoped he would be professional and realise he had to stay at Watford and so do his best. He did not - his record after the tapping up was atrocious and led to his dismissal in January. It was however the consequence of Everton's approach that led to the chain of events that got him dismissed.

I would say that we should have sacked him as soon as it emerged that he had agreed a deal behind our back, rather than waiting to see how results went.

  14. Are we still going for compensation though? Struggling to see the justification or the point given we did sack him - though I agree with Cologne that we should have done it earlier. Still, hindsight is a wonderful thing - not you Cologne as you said it at the time.

Easy to say with hindsight - but he had been a good manager and despite his dishonesty in dealing with Everton I guess the board thought he would act honourably and not just sulk because he did not get his way. I do not think the time between when the Pozzos got the evidence of his deal and the sacking was that long

Apparently Silva has a copy of a contract that you offered him whilst he was still in situ at Hull City.

Sounds like rank hypocrisy to me.

In reality he dismissed himself by failing to perform his contract to the best of his abilities.
If you deliberately underperformed at work and were sacked you would not be likely to win in an industrial tribunal.

Well it would to you as you are Everton. However two other clubs including Crystal Palace approached Silva after their relegation and before Watford; he also had a break clause in his contract for if they were relegated so it was perfectly legal - and Hull were fine as they knew that.
You only know about the contract Silva has produced as the worm has shown it in trying to wriggle out of his self inflicted mess. He is a true snake and I hope you get him. You would regret it.

  19. If that is true then I agree. I don't recall that being said by him in January when he got sacked though <whistle>.

You Everton guys are funny - you tap a manager 7 weeks into a season and then try to compare it with recruiting a manager after the end of a season where his contract allowed him to move.
