    Yeah this <ok>

Arsenal want a head coach rather than a traditional manager. As you mention scouting, recruitment and contracts are being taken care off by others now, so we’re looking for a football man to manage the team.

Arteta would be a risk, but he’s already proving himself at City in a coaching no2 role. I’d still prefer Allegri, but it doesn’t look like he’s coming. Arteta would definitley fit the mould that Arsenal are looking for.

I think it's a good move, let a young man with fresh ideas have a go at a big job, I hope they give him time.

Pep had one season as Barca B coach before he was given the main job, he's done and ok.

That’s different in my opinion, I just feel that Arsenal are taking a massive risk on Arteta.

There’s no doubt that if he indeed is the choice, the correct perception will be that they made the conscious decision to not go with someone more “established”, for whatever reason that decision would be made.

How is it different? One season as a coach of the B team and he was given one of the biggest Jobs in world footy. This is just Arsenal we're talking about here.

I think they are simply looking to give a young coach the opportunity to be their manager for many years other than some old twat coming in, it not working and then finding a new manager.

Off course they won't but you won't ever find out if you don't give them a chance.

That’s true, I don’t understand why Arsenal are getting Arteta as manager, They should’ve went for someone with experience personally.

Go back to you lot appointing LVG, he did ok but the fans wanted him out in the end. Experience isn't always the right choice, fresh new ideas can also work.

Yeah good point, it's always a risk and won't always work out but I think it's time football moved on and gave young managers the chance.
It'll do a Arsenal no good getting rid of one dinosaur and replacing him with another.

    <laugh>

Who was in Barca's first team when Pep took over? How were Barca doing in the league? How have they done after he left?

You get where this is going my Luv?

Arteta is just a Spanish Howe as things stand...but without the first team experience.

    This is a risky move.

it may go well, or fail spectacularly.
Kudos to Arsenal for giving a novice a chance at managing a big named club.
If I was an Arsenal fan I would be supremely pissed and spitting feathers, personally, but we will just have to wait and see.
With no previous managing skills to look back on, Arteta is a completely unknown quantity.

I think they have fallen into the same trap as United. Fergie replaced himself with someone who quite basically represented Fergie, a Scotsman showing some potential. Arsenal have done the same...just like Wenger, got another unknown in the hope that the outcome will be the same.

In other words, could be a lot of fun for the rest of us.
