Toon fan here and read today that top 6 never meet each other on first and last day of the season, wasn't aware of that but would explain 10 meaniless fixtures yesterday,is that what it has come to? You don't have to answer.

This isn't true. We've played Utd, City and Liverpool on the opening day.

Yep. The last time that we weren't was in 08/09.
Away to Utd was our most recent top six opener and it was the 15/16 season.

    Look at the fixtures yesterday
    Spurs v Leicester
    Liverpool v Brighton
    Newcastle v Chelsea
    Huddersfield v Arsenal
    M Utd v Watford
    S'HAMPTON v M City
are they not handy,3 of top 6 playing newly promoted teams or it's just the luck of the draw.

There is no draw. The fixtures are picked, mainly with TV in mind.
I was just pointing out that they top six do play each other on the opening day. The final day's different:

The fixtures are never completely random. Certain teams won't play on the same day and you won't get local derbies on the final day.

What about the day you upset Ferguson when City won the league, fuming he was even though you lost, S'Land v m Utd,m city v qpr,aye hard games on last day of the season, though on paper easy but anything but in reality.

Surely Sky tv would love a title decider game, for last day?

Don't think so, ideally Liverpool v chelsea would have been good yesterday, think top 6 have a say in things regarding fixtures but I may be wrong, Ferguson banging on for years wanting a handy game after Europe.Leicester winning the league was probably worst result for Sky but would never admit it.Has there ever been a last day decider (premier league) between clubs, can't remember one ie not playing each other

  19. It does in terms of excitement for fans. It means you don't get any of those massive games on the last day. And it's been deliberately engineered
