    I’ll leave the tricky stuff like that to the coach, who may decide to show JWP how to look for those runs. I’m sure we could convert him.

    I am not convinced we need to be selling that many players. It is more a case of bringing in the right players to create a far stronger team. We are a poor team but that is because of a few gaping holes not becuase the entire team is useless. Those holes are chasms though and need sorting.

    Exactly. We have the backbone of a good side here, but we need a few excellent players to replace the talent we have lost over the past few years. And they can be hard to find....hence why Liverpool just wait to see what we've found.

    We need (a) three good players to lift our team from average to good and (b) two more to lift us from good to excellent.

    (a) New centre half and not a kid. Someone with PL experience. An attacking midfielder who also is a strong on the field leader and scores half a dozen goals a season. A mobile striker who can create and finish and will get 20 goals a season. One of these must be Welsh because we always do well when a Welshman plays for Saints.

    (b) An inside forward in the Pahars mould who has ten to fifteen goals in him (I would play Boufal in this position if his temperament was right). A wide player on the right who can beat a man and cross the ball as well as chip in with five to ten goals a season.

    As for who to let go:

    The lad we signed in January who hasn't a ****ing clue.
    Steven Davies
    Boufal if he is unsettling
    Sorry to say because I respect the guy but Yoshida.

    I would keep Boufal for another season if he wants to stay. He’s worth the risk...

    Above all we need an inspirational player with the right character to lead them, can't say any of them are natural leaders.

    Yeah we don't have a bad "squad". What we need are 3 additions (CB, CAM, ST) that immediately improve the starting XI. Add LB/RB starting XI players if Bertrand or Cedric leave.

    If we can keep whoever we want to I suggest we need...

    Two quality CB. Young quick RB. A right sided tadic. A Shelvey. A Long who can score. That would sort us out.

    I would add to that a leader(s) which can of course be one of the above. It is no coincidence we concede goals at crazy times because there is literally nobody on the pitch keeping the players switched on.
