As I sit here watching Manure destroy Wengers rabble (as RVP scores again) I was wondering if,putting aside our natural hatred of the Fergies scumbags, who would you rather win the league (supposing we don't of course) Now say what you like about ferguson but his teams over the years have not all been about spending big.Sure they have when they can but the youth is always given a chance or young signings are brought through. However,City is all about cheque book football, just buy all the top players and try and win it that way.Youth at city might as well go elsewhere because there is very little chance of them getting a game. It's a team that plays only for money (despite what players like Nasri say) and we will see their true mettle when they hit a tough patch. So who would it be? Put aside your hatred and just look at it from purely a football point of view. For me I like the way that Liverpool and FSG are doing it.I know they have splashed the chance this season but only because drastic action was taken but still youth is being given a chance. With that in mind if we can't win it then it has to be....(gulp) Manure. By the way Chelski are,for me,just a London version of City but don't think they will win it anyway. And this is for the Liverpool board no wum's from other boards thankyou...or that d**k head Wakka.
Oh I'd pick Citeh any day. It's just like Chavski, or Madrid's first 5 European Cups, it doesn't count. When you throw that much money at something, you can't help but win, and so while the Citeh fans may think they are great, they have just bought short term success, and it can't last, and it doesn't count.
As much as I dislike Man Utd, I really can't stand these money-is-no-issue clubs like City and Chelsea before them. I don't want Man Utd to win, so to speak, but I certainly don't want City to achieve anything nomatter how much they splash out. I hope they collapse and get decimated by FFP rules. If we had owners like that, I would be embarrased so I'm glad we don't - plus I actually think ours are better long term.
Let's calm down! We try and keep a lid on our own expectations for this season and yet we are throwing around praise for United and City. Just remeber the start that Chelsea had last season and then consider what happened.
Fair point but it's just a hypothetical question really..City or United which one (neither we all say) but just IF it has to be one of them?
I think it is still clear to see where City and United will drop points. Neither are great in defence, and have been shaken at times in games so far. Bolton scared City a bit last week, and West Brom made a big test for United on opening day. You cannot question the teams abilities today, but we don't have to fear these sides. This. With United, they have a lot of very young players and a lot of ageing players. If they don't pace themselves they will burn out, especially with European football added on. Champions League football is a new game for Man City, and like Tottenham last season, they have to make sure they find the right balance between tournaments. Tottenham failed in that and slipped up big time in the League.
I didn't see the Spurs-City game so I can't pass any form of opinion. I did see the United-Arsenal game and thought 8-2 was a fair reflection of the game. I have never seen such a poor and disorganised Arsenal side - even allowing for the usual post CL tiredness. As for United they remind me of the schoolyard bullies. Show weakness and they'll exploit it to the hilt. It will be interesting to see what happens when a better side pushes them back and things start to go wrong.
City or United. I would like to see Liverpool take both of them apart this season. Well we play them both twice, Man U up first at Anfield on October 15th.
What a difference a year makes. This time last year we had players that didn't care and stopped bothering, we spent nothing on new signings and had a manager who was out of his depth, we were still owned by Hicks and Gillett. This year we are owned by generous owners, the players play with smiles on their faces, and the manager knows what he's doing, and we spent a decent amount on not only players, but really good players, and to top it all off, Nabil El Zhar is gone.
Team with more muscle, a solid defensive unit and a good goal scorer or 2 will stop Unit. Stokes the kind of team who could play them and take a draw for example.
Jkiel. Do you think that we've enough in our locker to give them a bit of a beating on October 15th, especially as we've got one of the strongest central midfields in the premiership bar Man City, and Suarez is a live-wire that is almost impossible to mark. We're also a better side than the one that won at Anfield in March.
I dont think you can take Liverpool out of the mix, you are looking quite good. I think Chavski may only get 4th with Liverpool getting 3rd or 2nd (Behind UTD of cause )
We can take them. We beat them both the last time we played them, and nicely to. They wont score 4+ goals in every game. Apart from Bolton, none of them have come up against a strong defence yet, and Bolton's isn't really good.
I certainly think it is possible. Liverpool have had a few problems in defence, but the attack is building very nicely. Adam and Lucas are playing very well and Gerrard will be back by then. October 15th is quite far ahead right now though. Ooops didnt think that would come out as a double post.
City or United... Thats like one of those questions 'would you rather have both your eyes poked out or your penis cut off...'
Look guys this is just a (fairly ) simple question I was just asking, not if you think Liverpool can beat them, just if it was to be one...which one! I know we have a stronger squad now than last year and we are making great strides and I really do think we will finish top 4 but all i want to know is City or Manure?
