The Wembley factor <doh> ... they've played there close on 30 times this season ... some of their opposition might never have played there before but will have done at White Hart Lane ... good teams don't get beat by venues ...

A change of stadium affects most clubs really for a period of time, they're doing it again next year too.

  6. Finishing top 4 was far more important to the club.

With the new stadium, we need what's going to rake in the cash.

No way would winning the FA Cup, at the cost of top 4, have been as profitable as finishing top 4 without winning the Cup.

The wums will say otherwise, but it's an obvious fact.

Why would the FA Cup affect your position in the league, the final isn't until next week and you played in the semi anyway

  8. I think the general feeling among a lot of Spurs fans is that Poch didn't go all-out for the Cup, but kept a fair amount back for the Prem.

The feeling is that had he gone all-out - whether or not it would have led us to the Final - our top 4 form would have suffered. Would I want to be sat here looking forward to a Final if we were sitting 5th in the league with all the Chav wums prancing around like tits and sneering that we'd "bottled it?"

    Absolutely not.

As a fan though surely you'd rather win the cup?

Poch didn't take cups seriously for us when he was here as well.

So going "all out" in one game would have killed your top 4 hopes?

I think he wanted the FA Cup quite badly this season, and so did the club. The best Spurs side since 1991 has still won **** all. An Arsenal side supposedly in sharp decline won three FA Cups.

  16. I'd rather the club finish top 4 and get CL footy than us win the FA Cup.

If Chavs win the FA Cup, do you really think that alone is likely to keep Conte or the likes of Hazard at the club, if the likes of Real, PSG, or Barca come calling?

I believe that he took the FA Cup as seriously as he felt he was able to without jeopardising top 4.

Why do you think one game would have jeopardised top 4?

    #198
  19. Exactly!

Arsenal won three FA Cups recently, and yet they've now finished outside top 4 in two successive seasons, and they've been forced to sack their greatest ever manager!

Are the fans happy to sit back on their history and say, "Well, we won the FA Cup three times recently, let's settle for mid table obscurity?"

    Of course not.

I say again, the FA Cup means absolutely **** all in the modern game.

It's sad, and I wish things could be like they were when the Cup Final was the only thing that fans looked forward to, and we still had Brian Moore commentating on games, and Dickie Davies reading the full-time scores; but the world of footy has moved on.
