Why would he take a step down?... Seriously, he should be Saints manager already, but I don't think he would take it out of respect to Bournemouth.
I think the lack of control on transfers will be a hurdle as he does have a "history" as Stoke and QPR will attest. Would want the transfer dealings to be done by a footballing director and not the manager so if it's the stumbling block then goodbye Mark go find another mug club to play with
Well let's hope we're not going to be treated to another fiasco where we wait 6 weeks for a decision, and end up with someone we haven't heard of, who loses the fans in the first weekend of August.
He's a perfect fit, but the timing has never lined up. Two year contract left at Bournemouth (or they'll probably just panic sack him when they start doing badly), that's the long term aim. Well it's mine anyway.
Same, I couldn't handle that **** again. I say give it to Hughes on a rolling contract. The list could just be back up if Hughes doesn't want it?
Hughes was never my choice, but he did exactly what he was brought in to do - so as far as I'm concerned has earned a contract (if he wants one) The board just need to not dick about and get it sorted pronto. Then we can draw a line etc etc
I've got a feeling we won't have Hughes as our new manager. Just got a feeling a new DOF will want their own man, which I understand.
I don’t see why we can’t just keep him for the next year or two. We need someone just to stabilise the ship for next season. If we gamble on a new manager and lots of player departures...
If we piss him around then we deserve another another train wreck season. If we piss him around then the board will lose any last lingering good feeling.
We rolled the dice last Summer and got a double one, better to stick with what we have for the time being.
Whatever the decision is we need it to be made fast.......and not to muck around as they have done on previous occasions. One would have thought they would have a short list by now including sparky. I wonder why I have doubts that the board are that prepared.
What is the worst that can happen? It wont be as bad as this season, I'm supremely confident of that. I can't see a downside to keeping Hughes at the moment, if it doesn't work he will get sacked just like any other Charlie that comes along. He's been the first manager since Koeman to get Tadic playing football again on that basis alone he's off to a good start.
