Why does Iran need a "civil" nuclear energy programme anyway? Not like they're short of oil is it? Yes the oil will run out one day, but there are alternatives. I find it hard to believe that they would go down the "civil" route without noting the possible military benefits. The hard choices I was referring to means taking them to task for any form of nuclear power production because frankly I don't trust them to use it responsibly.

My next question would be whether the highly enriched material
has a better ROI for energy production (does the extra power it
produces offset the costs of making the material wrt other more
    basic materials) .

    No
Lightly enriched uranium is the optimal fuel for energy production unless you are very constrained on space. So you would have to use more highly enriched fuel in a small reactor to power a nuclear submarine.

So as the Iran navy do not have aircraft carriers or
submarines, enriched uranium production on land
is solely for weapon production capability.

Iran do have submarines, with three listed in this 2008 report while a further two (or three, it's not entirely clear) have been built since 2011, albeit all are diesel-electric.

However, Iran have been building nuclear submarines since at least 2012 while they also announced plans to build a nuclear-powered destroyer last year - the latter of which was announced once the Orange Overlord began to kick off about the nuclear deal late last year.

Then they have a military reason (that of course provides
the source material for missile-based weapons).

If people would just call a spade a spade and say
that of all the nations that likely to launch nuclear
missiles based on religious faith, Iran is right up the
top end of the list, then most of the nonsense is gone.

As opposed to the US, which is the nation most likely to launch a nuclear strike because somebody said mean things about their President on Twitter

Yes but that's the point isn't it. The US have not nuked anyone since 1945 despite having nukes for 73 years. We simply cannot trust Iran not to do something "Armageddony", and despite the orange nutter being President I'd much rather have the US with nukes than Iran. You can criticise Trump as much as you want, but would you rather trust Iran, seriously?

That's still one more country than any other country with a nuclear arsenal have.

It's worth pointing out that the last time Beitar Jerusalem made international headlines was back in 2013, where their fans responded to the club signing a couple of Muslim players by burning the club's offices to the ground.

Unsurprisingly, their fans have a reputation for singing anti-Arab and anti-Muslim songs before, during and after their games, which makes them nothing more than the Israeli West Scam - so it's sort of fitting they think an affiliation with the Orange Overlord is the best thing for the club.

The Senate investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US Presidential election disagrees with the House:
    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...cial&utm_source=Facebook#link_time=1526488647

“There is no doubt that Russia undertook an unprecedented effort to interfere with our 2016 elections,” said Senator Richard Burr, the Republican chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, in a statement issued with Mark Warner, its most senior Democrat.

“The Russian effort was extensive, sophisticated, and ordered by President Putin himself for the purpose of helping Donald Trump and hurting Hillary Clinton.”

What a totally unsurprising turn of events.

The continued farce that is the government's handling of the East Coast Mainline decided to take yet another twist towards the ludicrous as, just three years after Cameron's Tory government yanked it out of public hands and sold it off to a Virgin/Stagecoach consortium due to it having the temerity to run a reliable service that turned a profit, the Dire Leader's Tory government have to yank it back out of their combined hands due to it being grossly unreliable and generating substantial losses.

On the plus side, I guess that means there's one route on our rail network that won't mainly exist to subsidise some other nation's rail network...
