Pretty sure I was hearing these same criticisms of Raheem Sterling a year ago or so. In fact, how well would Sterling have done in our team this season?

There were two occasions when Redmond ran into the Swansea box, but at the final moment his technique let him down. This is due to lack of match practice. Most players, if they play a bit-part role in the team, struggle to find any form. But to deny that Redmond has the ability is daft. He has proved he can take on players, and proved he can link up play and pick out a good pass. His shooting is his weakest attribute, but he is not totally hopeless here either. That Guardiola sees the potential in him, tells you all you need to know.

Both Redmond and JWP were actually making pretty good progress under Puel, but somehow Pellegrino managed to make everybody look awful.

When I see what some posters say about some of our players. I honestly wonder if they are supporting and watching the same team as me sometimes. Quite a few of our players this year have lost form and direction. No doubt about it. To say they are not up to premier standard is very harsh. Players are only as good as the players around them, we have seen just recently some of them start to get back to form. Because of that others are responding too. It would be folly to right most of them off..............

I was just thinking, if nothing else, this season should have been a wake up call for the board and us fans too.

The board had to be ready for us going down to the Championship and staying up....two different scenarios. Presumably (without presuming :)) they are back to Plan A for transfers.

Interesting piece but,in regards to the City game, the quote "We're going to go out and prepare for the game as we would have done during the season and make sure we get the job done." makes me shiver. We're doomed, I tell ye

Bollocks. All this namby-pamby nonsense. They're all crap. Get rid of them all; sack the board; sell the ground and let's start a new club. The new board can meet every week in a downtown whine bar and read through the comments on here, filtering out the happy clappers. Everything will then be fine and dandy.

How am I doing at getting the mood?

Is it permissible to offer a view that I like Nathan Redmond and think that, like others have said about Sofiane, he needs a decent manager. Maybe we've found one for him

I feel that Hughes looks like a man who can give you grief if needed, but is unlikely to bear a grudge. If so, it may well still work out for Boufal....but if he is seriously unhappy, then it would be best to part company. He is good, but it's not a blow if we lose him.

Take out Austin, and I'd be agreeing with you.

(That's not to say I want us to sell Austin. But I do want us to be in a position where he is only getting on our bench - and in that case, I can't be desperate to keep hold of someone from our bench.)

In that respect, it's the absolute perfect season...we didn't just flirt with relegation, we got engaged and made it to the altar.

And when the bit about “any just cause or impediment” came along, Swansea spoke up.

    Hopefully.

Indeed. If this season doesn't force the board into action, then I don't think anything will.

(Similar to anyone on here who says they want to give it until October, to see how things go. This time, no; no, no.)

Yeah, there should be a fierce sense of urgency. This season is a bit of a rarity: neither of the teams who finished 16th or 17th in 2016-17 will be relegated, only the second time that has happened in a decade. We need a decisive summer, rather than hoping that Hughes alone is transformative, or this is merely a temporary reprieve.

To me, Redmond always seems to underperform when he starts, whereas if he comes on as a sub, he’s generally much better. I think it’s to do with defensive responsibilities; fry’s his brain. I don’t think he can handle both defensive & attacking requirements whereas, as a sub we’re generally chasing the game & his main goal, is the goal. Maybe MH can get him to improve but I feel it’s always been a failing & im not sure if he’ll make it. Would love him too though.

Yep. He and Stephens fought right to the end of MP2's tenure, way after others had chucked in the towel. Earned us some crucial points.

Its about supporting the club for me. I dont feel I need to be nice about players who have underperformed, we all know that they will bugger off elsewhere when the money comes calling. I hope there is not a single player in the changing room who would put their hand on heart and say they deserve to be here at the end of this season. Not one of them. Its a priviledge, not a right. If they can't keep us in the Premier then they're not up to standard.
