I'm not unhappy with FSG, and maybe it has flipped in the last year with VVD and the K man, two big purchases... But I believe we've made profits in most transfer windows (selling more than we buy) for Klopp's time with us, and a little before that.

Of course net xfer spend is not the main thing. Total expenditure is. Teams looks at wages and how much a player cost per annum. Transfer is only a small part of that.

We had cut our wages way back... Although they're beginning to climb again now.

Overall, I don't think FSG has really pumped much of their own money into the club. The club has been supporting itself. Now, we're fortunate; they haven't been draining the club of money either.

    yeah....

but then we would not have spent on firmino, mane or salah if we had sterling and suarez....

Klopps net spend is certainly skewed by coutinho. but then he bought 75mil vvd and imo may not have unless that deal was in place. in the end.... relegated clubs have spent more net. it shows what can be done.

We could look at spurs net spend too. theres only one year in 6 or 7 that they have actually spent more than they took in. 27.7mil which that year in effect was sissoko purchase

it shows you can get so far being careful and wise with money... but when city spend 200mil net in one year what else can you do...

Raise your game (literally and metaphorically) .

Every season that Citeh spend megabucks does not
automatically result in a PL title procession for them.
The moment they falter, pounce and punish them
(that is what happened in the previous two seasons) .

He is hedging, see who the new boss is and if he has plans for Rooney.

    Unless Big Sam stays @astro?

    Easier said than done.

The only way to compete is in one competition not all 4 and be very clear about whats needed in terms of resources and results.

Liverpool have had too many poxy results and we seem to shrug them off.

The only way to compete is to really focus on the league or the fa cup or whatever comp you want to win.

If LFC want to win the league theres 36 games not against city to try win. not to mention our record v city. if you draw a third of them you are not going to win the league.

Nobody needs a city style team to win the league par se but they do need 23 players fit and able to play not guys who drag the whole team level down when the come in.

The next phase of LFC development has to be to push past that we have an 11 but the rest are not good enough before the 11 we do have **** off to real and barca and city.

If the reports are correct then we’re getting £12.5m for him, and we paid nothing, he scored 11 goals for us and scored the goal of the season. Not the worst deal ever......

    Of course.

One of the things I enjoy about Spurs nowadays is
watching the usual suspects respond to their season
failures with summer chequebook knee jerking, and then
seeing how we respond to this the following season.

you never knee jerk, you wait til the last minute and buy what is left... #bestvalue

LFC is all about making do and once in a while a star comes through and we then sell them.

We have about 70% of our team now

    Karius... hmmmm
    TAA. maybe we will see
    Robertson surprisingly good
    Lovren. yuk
    VVD great
    Henderson. meh
Keita - everyone waiting for him
    Ox - surprisingly positive
    Mane - inconsistent but capable
    Firmino - crucial
    Salah brilliant

3 players then are we should have a team. the issue is like you the monet a forward goes down its all over.

if 8th after being lower half and worried is not too bad sure. rooney did his best, he wasn't up to it as predicted on here. the rest of your team and buys were that bad they made him look good.

Good news for Everton, don’t need spotlight and baggage that goes with Wayne Rooney dragging you back.

See you later Wayne, I certainly wont miss a dozen camera pans to him sitting on the bench each half followed by analysis of the bloke whether he’s played an entire game or not a single minute.

    Weird obsession with the man

as an aside why do we spend so much more than other clubs on agents.

whilst you're right it is very difficult to contest with them when they can , and do , buy half a new team if they fail. For clubs like ours think we need them to screw up before we can beat them over a whole season. With both clubs financial prudence , rightly imo , it has to be built up over time particularly in regard to having good squad options.

I think they even admitted early that the amount of money needed to invest in players and transfers took them from surprise coming from USA where transfers aren’t teally a thing in baseball.

Theyve always said model is to be self sufficient which I don’t think any real lfc fans are upset with, would we really want an owner likecity just throwing tonnes of unlimited money at us?

wages are climbing but I think that’s the way Football is going plus I think we’ve invested into a better first team which will obviously cost more.

we get reported as paying but I don't know if we really are the highest payer of agents. who knows.

What i do know is they are a plague of locusts on the game in general.

I presume a lot of the payments are to get markovic a new club <laugh>

When you've dead wood to move i suppose you though good money after bad to get shut.
