Not Shelvey based on a one-off performance last night. He’s a loose cannon, totally unreliable, poor discipline and produces only once in a while. Very good on his day as we saw, but not for me. Lascelles is another matter...... very good prospect.
I was watching on a Croatian feed and didn’t have to put up with the usual rubbish as even if they did say any of it I wouldn’t understand. When Trippier was fouled however it was obvious that they thought it should have been a red card
One thing that's worried me about our recent crap form is how, when Poch needed to be brave with his team selections, he was the exact opposite of brave and just picked the usual names in the usual positions and made the usual substitutions every single time. Yes we just about managed to limp over the line with a game to spare, but considering we could have sewn up our spot in next season's Champions League two or three weeks ago but made an absolute hash of it, that really can't be ignored. I sincerely hope that we're a little more positive with our selections on Sunday, because one thing this season's taught us is that whenever we attempt to be conservative we are really bad at it.
Glad that we finally dragged ourselves over the line, despite another nervy, tense performance. Kane may have scored again, but he's still clearly not fit and was having an awful game up until that point. I'd love to see him rested for the last match, but it's not going to happen.
1. Caused by scoring all those goals that wins him the PL Golden Boot again 2. I would not mind Alli / Dier etc also suffering similar injuries.
Amazes me that there's been very little talk of that. The replay of it keeps being shown but with the focus on Trippier being injured and potentially missing the WC, no actual talk about how much of a disgusting lunge it was, can you imagine if Dele had done that to one of theirs?
That was one of the most difficult games I've had to watch as a Spurs fan. It was right up there with blowing a 3-0 lead against 10 men City and losing 5-1 at Newcastle. So many players look tired and off form that I wouldn't consider it playing the reserves if we made a lot of changes for Sunday, we'd be playing our best available team! Kane really needs to get the golden boot out of his head, he's ****ed up a lot of opportunities by lashing at shots, or shooting when he should pass. He's a phenomenal player, as shown by his finish last night, but his obsession with his goals tally will hold him back from being even better.
Very true...I find our attackers to be too much head down for the team's good. Son was head down , running into oppo players and losing it. When he wasn't doing that he was holding the ball till surrounded by 4 Toon players, turning on them all and totally killing the momentum, just let go of the ball earlier ffs! These might come across as minor moans but for me there is a fine line in everything on the pitch, get your timing sorted or its gone. Tweeking this would improve our on pitch fortunes and nudge us closer to where we want to be.
I said it at the time on this thread, it was horrendous. Even Norman Hunter and Billy Bremner would have been embarrassed by that one.
There are only two options to reach the next level : 1. Spend your way past the obvious deficiencies 2. Make marginal improvements in all aspects of your game, so that the net effort is big improvement. 1 is not happening any time soon, so it has to be 2. And that means MANAGER as well as players.
