We are tough sellers generally. We don't really have any recent history of selling anyone either the management didn't want, or the player was agitating for a move. I'm not sure anyone will pay the Ashley tax on the likes of Shelvey and Lascelles. To the normal person they wouldn't be worth silly money. As Benitez will want to keep them, Ashley will simply say something silly like 35-40m for each. Even Sissoko and Wijnaldum went for 30m and 25m respectively, they were players Rafa wanted to leave, they wanted to leave, and the club needed the money. I thought they were high fees.
I'm ok with Gayle as say 3rd choice. If we sell Joselu and Mitrovic, sign a main man and say Abel Hernandez on a free, I'd think we'd improved considerably.
**** that, mate. Gayle has to go. He's a dreadful player. I'm not too fussed whether Mitro stays or goes, I presume he'd be sold if it meant we needed the money for a Rafa player, but we have to upgrade both Gayle (maybe Arma is an upgrade?) and Joselu (Mitro is surely an upgrade, but if sold we need a top quality target man).
Wouldn't necessarily say dreadful - actually though he put in a decent shift last night although he did screw up the chances offered - makes me wonder if he'd actually be better for us playing off a main striker rather than leading the line himself. However, I'd agree that we need to move him on - Fulham were supposedly sniffing again, so take the money and upgrade
I can see Fulham getting promoted and next season Mitro/Gayle partnership getting 40 goals between them
Def get rid of Gale Jos and sadly Mitro,hope we keep the goalie and Kenedy find a good CF and a number 10,sadly don't think Armstrong will make it, hope I'm wrong
