He was more to blame for Qpr than Stoke. I think he had the rug pulled from under him up there, and the way they have spoken about him since is pretty disrespectful.
I'm all for rose tinted, but he was terrible there. Some of the players he brought in were rotten to the core. His time there ironically reminds me of 'Arry, Then, for their sins, 'Arry turns up! Poor sods.
Regarding the transfers it sounds like we are going to be changing our policy to "experienced players who know the league" from that interview where they also announced the China pre season tour. Lets start calling ourselves South Ham and get rid of the Pton bit. Yaya Toure first signing please

I don't believe that. We do however need to shift quite a few, and hopefully get some money for them. That, will be a big challenge.

Also did a fair job at Fulham .........every manager gas a blot on there CV,even Fergie got sacked from ST Mirren once and look how he turned out.
It doesn't take any great genius to realize that was a must win game. Hughes and every other manager in the world would have added an extra defender at 75 minutes at least. If you really want to be objective about it, Bednarek getting hurt made Hughes sub Gabbiadini in sooner than he otherwise would have. And the fact that he entered the game a few minutes early is what allowed him to score. In other words, it was luck.
I would give him a contract, simply because he has us playing with a bit of passion. The main thing I would worry about, is how we would cope defensively. I used to meet up with a Stoke fan, in Spain, and football would always be top of the agenda, but one thing we agreed on was how the Stoke defence gradually lost it’s discipline and strength, over the years following the departure of Pulis. My concern is that our defence now is nowhere near as good as Stoke’s defence was, when Hughes went to Stoke. Can he improve it?
If you listened to Hughes post-match he said pretty much exactly that. Not luck then but a slight bringing-forward of what he was going to do anyway. And you don’t know he wouldn’t have scored if he had come on a few minutes later. Come to that, Bednarek might have scored if he hadn’t gone off!
