I've always been perplexed at the term, "grammar and spelling nazis." The nazis weren't renowned for promoting universal education for clearer communication. People who inhabit Internet forums are generally there to communicate, right? The nazis preferred to keep people ignorant, so I ask you, who are the real nazis? Their knowledge of history seems as poor as their punctuation. I was on a forum some years ago, where somebody pointed out I was spelling definite as definate, a common error. I didn't throw a hissy fit about their totalitarian attitude to Internet usage, I merely thanked them and never made that mistake again,. It really wasn't the big deal some ignorant nazis like to make.
it is interesting yes as many many fine regimes were as directive as the national socialists. spelling and grammar Romans for example. or spelling and grammar chairman mail's or what have you. irrespective... I will continue blindly not checking spellings in order to provide them something to do
The idea of putting 'nazi' after a word [e.g. grammar, soup] isn't because they were good at, or promoted it
I think/hope we all know that. My soup Nazi comment about them making good soup was a joke based on MFG saying they weren't good at grammar.
BTW, has anyone been compared to Hitler yet on this thread? There was a rule in the early days of forums online that in every thread, if it last.long enough, someone will eventually be compared to Hitler. Have we done that yet?
I've been accused of it but I didn't actually...just called them an anti Semite based on the gash they were spewing.... Their head went straight to Nazi...go figure Eh?
In German speaking countries does alphabet soup have umlauts and essets? @Nozzer Chinese alphabet soup must come in very large cans.
