I agree with lots of it too but can we separate it from our celebrations. Please. Why doesn’t @Ian Thumwood stsrt a new thread as it would be a good discussion
Actually, I don’t agree with Ian, so no change there then! Do we seriously think that “recriminations” are the constructive way forward? Do we feel that demanding heads is always the solution? I want a period of joyful relief (I don’t think Ian does these) followed by a period of cool analysis and then action. We need to improve decision making and my own preference would be to give MH a contract as a first move. But for today, it’s not the time for cynicism, it’s time to enjoy the moment and look forward to Sunday. Huzzah!
great result for you boys last night>>seems you had the bigger balls for the 3 points>>>>very well done
It was only fitting that we put the final nail in WBA’s relegation coffin. Do we now forget the pre-match shenanigans, which according to the commentary included a police escort for the team coach that failed to show?
One thing has been refreshing in the relegation battle; the lack of happy clappers and love for the board.
I think the majority of fans will just want survival, a few decent wins and a reasonable final position and if they come via a scrappy 1-0 win like last night, they’ll be happy. We cannot pay players like the mega-rich clubs, so we have to be resigned to having some really good players for a season or two and then losing them to the top of the league. Hopefully we can find a few more ‘steals’ like Mane, Van Dijk, Pelle, Clyne, etc and keep some of our current team (though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bertrand, Tadic, Cedric and a couple of others be seduced away) so we can go back to (as the pundits say) “punching above our weight”. For the moment, let’s just enjoy last night’s win and hope we don’t capitulate against a very good City team and let Swansea sneak past us by thumping Stoke.
I was never in the, ‘don’t mind if we get relegated’ camp but one byproduct of that would have been that the likes of Target, Sims, McQuuen, Gallagher, JWP and so on would be more likely to start. Which is something I would like to see. A home grown team with a love of the club and a desire to win, I’d love to see that again.
Good luck for Sunday. Would be sad to see you lot go down; you've had some great years in the top flight and were a lot of people's 'second team' for a while. Brilliant fans too.
Wow i got to admit i thought we were down in January, I was more optimistic when we replaced MP but there was still so much to do. Big shout to Hughes and the coaching team for getting the players believing again. Lets enjoy this moment and create a massive party atmosphere on Sunday.
Watching Kevin Davis walk out of the tunnel after half time I wondered what would have happened if he’d kicked Ayew in the knee such that he couldn’t carry on!!! Obviously I was getting a tad crazy at that point but I still wonder what the overall outcome would have been. Ha ha to the ‘dark arts’!
Not to mention the lack of snide digs from the bedwetters... All is forgiven now anyway, at least til the summer
Re: Dark Arts. Anyone else see their grumpy ball-boy trying to punch our players as they were celebrating?
