Morning all. Another lovely day here, but last night I had to do some watering. How quickly things change! Reports I see suggest that the UK will have fine warm weather for the holiday today. That is great, but I suspect the sea might still be a tad chilly if you fancy a dip.
yesterday was Filey..... more hours in the traffic jams than actually there! Today at home..... very sunny here of course this morning
We had the obligatory trips to the ruins in St. Albans as well Frenchie. But we did get trips to Gloucester (Rugby) and one trip to Twickenham because an ex Ricky Grammar boy was playing.
Went and had another look at them two years ago. Quite a lot of work had been done since I was there many years before, and further works were planned. I do remember a trip to The Den to see Hertfordshire Boys play a county game. Freddie Bunce who went on to play for Watford 150 times was on the field. He was great to watch at the time of Big Cliff, a flying left winger who remembered to take the ball with him some of the time.
We got the two big museums, the zoo and Hatfield House. But had a brilliant primary school teacher who took us to Lords, and England v Brazil at Wembley and a day seeing the sights where we bumped into a well oiled James Hunt. When you're 11 and a world champion answers your teachers question of "what's your beautiful alsatian called?" with the word "****er" you tend not to forget it
Every now and again something comes up that is critical of our football club. We are only interested in money, or the club has lost it's soul. If you read this you will find out that we are still a club that values the past, the people associated with it, and the place it holds in the community. https://wp.me/P7i0ea-s8 I find this strikes very close to home for me. About five years ago I was trying to find out about my grandfather who died in Watford at an early age from TB. I had no idea where he was buried, and as a long shot phoned Watford Borough Council. They were able to tell me where he was, and was also in an unmarked grave in Vicarage Road cementery. All those years I walked past and never knew.
Morning all, warm at present, but could get hot this afternoon. It was up to 33°C yesterday and likely to be similar today. This could lead to thunderstorms of course, but so far I have not had a message from my Internet provider telling me to unplug my systems when one is approaching.
Good that is done Dave. I don't like to say it - but the waiting game can now go on for years. J has her next CT scan on 30th May and a cardiac MRI on 4th June. They are never ending - but necessary.
Morning all, quite a change from yesterday as the cloud rolled in from the west overnight and it is grey, but mild and dry. We should see the sun this afternoon. It is Mme's birthday today, so on my best behaviour. Looking at her selection of cards it is amazing just where they were all printed. At one time Watford was known for the print business, but today the cards come from all over the world.
