Consistency. Absolutely none of it, the amount of times you see injuries in injury time and little to no time be added. Fair enough Moss adding on the minutes, but no doubt the next game will be refereed totally differently.
Hughes blames referees. That's just what he does. I don't know if he actually believes it or not, but either way it's important to him that the supporters know about it.
Yep, it’s almost like somebody has it in for us. I remember a game once at the Dell. I think it was against Ipswich. We did everything but score, but you had that feeling that it didn’t matter how close you get to scoring they would score and win with their only chance.. that’s exactly what happened. We have been so close so many times to getting a good result and have failed, Everton, Arsenal, Watford, Chelsea. It’s almost karma. What did Ralph do, did Gao kill the wrong chicken, who knows
It could be Hughes’ fault? Didn’t he score a legitimate goal for us many moons ago that wasn’t given. Smashed into the hoardings and came out so quickly that the officials thought it had been saved? Found it, Hughes’ fault. Sack him now before it’s too late.
Both players had their foot high going for the ball. For some reason Yoshida was deemed a foul. They were equally to blame
This always annoys me. Not specifically this one. High ball. Two players go for it with same intention. Logically one of them has to get it slightly before the other who then always gets booked. Helped in this case by a bit of simulation to persuade the ref
It happens all the time. Yoshida was trying to block the clearance of the ball and it was the forward momentum of the defenders foot that made the contact, not the forward momentum of Yoshida who, if I have remembered it correctly, made a sideways movement to try and get in front of the ball. I know the game is becoming more and more a non contact sport, but if you are being penalised for trying to block a ball, with your foot actually being kicked by the person deemed to have been fouled, then things are going too far. I know some will counter this by saying his foot was high/showing studs etc, but that isn’t the issue. The issue is that there is so much inconsistency. For example. A player makes a good tackle, cleanly taking the ball, yet the ref gives a free kick because “his trailing leg touched the other player”. If the same thought process was applied to the Yoshida type of incident, then the fact that the defender clearly kicked Yoshida’s foot after cleanly taking the ball, then the free kick should have been ours, and no yellow card.
I've got no problem with it being a foul, but it was never a yellow card. Mori did his best play-acting, but Moss should never have fallen for it. It's not being bias; the commentators didn't think it was a yellow either. But given the fact that he was on a yellow, the subsequent foul from Yoshida was inexcusable. It was not a do-or-die situation, where we needed him to take a yellow for the team. He had team-mates around, which Niasse didn't. (My mind actually switched onto it about ten seconds earlier, when we sent Hoedt and Bednarek forward for the FK, but not Yoshida. I found it strange that we'd chosen to keep back the CB who was on a yellow. Small detail like that was poor planning from us.)
I completely agree. It was shocking, I'm not sure it was a foul even, let alone a yellow card. Both players had the same intent which was to get to the ball, not to injure each other
Ah, that's good news. I wasn't joking - I had read it a day or two before. Maybe I skimmed and it was something along the lines of only the Manchester teams have won by more than one goal (even if Spurs had too). Either way, that makes better reading, thanks.
Both players feet are high and showing studs as its impossible to go for a ball over knee-height in any other way ... unless you jump vertically so your foot is level with the ball and your studs are facing the ground ... but then you would have 2 feet off the ground and be out of control, which is a red .. I think the only answer is to immediately throw yourself to the ground holding your foot and screaming ... and if you both do it then the ref will just have to decide who was most convincing and yellow the other ... or the ref could consult the crowd who could hold up cards indicating their favourite? That's it, I'm out of ideas
But the home crowd would always vote for the opposition. This needs more thought - what about a viewers' poll (or Graham Poll)?
No No No, you're voting for the most convincing feigned injury. The home crowd would vote for their guy Same problem, however. I just wanted you to understand the business process clearly
it would certainly work against us. I noticed that at Wembley. Maybe something to do with the sunshine and the number of middle aged bodies in tight football shirts, plus red not being that flattering...
