Fair points but I'm still not sure he isn't a better option than the alternatives.

I'm also not sure how you can label him "Tactically inflexible" and then complain he changed his tactics from "Power and Pace". Surely you are upset he wasn't more "Inflexible"?

And I am not sure about the power thing. Most times everyone just cites Vieira, but he was really the only "Hard man" Arsenal ever had. Petit wasn't that tough. And Xhaka is as tough a guy as we have had since and everyone seems to hate him, and everyone complains every time he commits a foul (which are no less stupid than some of Vieira's were).

So yeah, I think it is a value judgement, it certainly isn't a slam dunk either way. But I'm not a huge fan of Pierce so saying Wenger would be better isn't exactly a huge complement.

i'm not saying Wengers a bad manager. Just not a top manager nowadays

With respect to the tactically inflexible, it's the same passing it around but without the incision and the ability to counter at speed because either your players didn't have the pace or they lacked the power to shrug off a tackle and get fouled.

Theres no mark this particular man, stop this particular piece of play, like for like subs at 70 mins. Maybe throw on a striker but no plan B really.

With respect to the power and pace to light weights It was more that period after the invincibles where you had no power except for Alex Song. From forward down:

Hleb, Rosicky, Fabregas, Arshavin, Gervino (only one with pace), Cazorla. RVP was class

    Nowadays

Xhaka i wouldn't say is powerful and not just that he's slow.

El Neny has a bit of both but he's technically poor.

Petit wasn't quick or weak but he was both. In any case he's far more rounded than Xhaka imo.

    Vieira was brilliant.

Gilberto was a good all rounder

    Edu was good all rounder

It's mainly your wingers and your CBs.

Ljunngberg, Pires, Wiltord, could all hold their own. Same with Bergkamp, Henry, Kanu (who lacked pace)

Compare that to Ozil, Walcott and Ox (who was the only one) recently.

no need to mention george grahams back 4 but the new lot, Cashley, Sol Campbell, Lauren and Kolo Toure were all powerful and dominant and quick.

Compare that to your recent lot, djourou, senderos, mustafi, koscielny and even the BIG FRIENDLY GIANT. There isn't any comparisson.

Sorry the writing is really hard to read as my thoughts are a bit jumbled but you get the jist

Fair enough. I'm in the leadership team in a school and what you state is the complete opposite of our school ethos. If that's genuinely how you think the teaching was at your children's school then you should have moved them. And if that's genuinely what your relatives think they should move schools too, or try and do something about it. Or maybe that's really what most schools are like and we're an exception. Though I really can't imagine we're an exception given what I know about our partner schools.

You have to realize that the education system is very uneven, I was referring to The West in General and I am not talking about the top 30% of students. We are talking about the majority of the population. We are also living at a time where a very large proportion of the population were not educated in the West.

I honestly believe that the British system is the best in the world. As I said, I genuinely believe it is why Britain and Europe rose to be where it was in the world. But the well-educated are not the majority in this Internet driven world.

If you look at the USA and their education, it is appalling, and they are the ones that are driving the culture. Now you are right not by reason, but because of how many likes your post gets. If you look at their last election and no matter what your political persuasion, you have to be horrified at the level of debate.

I am also not in Britain any more, so I can't say how things are since I left, but there was always a two-tier system there, and I have no reason to believe that it has changed.

Arsene Wenger to consider upstairs role... but not at Arsenal
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/05/08/arsene-wenger-consider-upstairs-role-not-arsenal/

Arsene Wenger has given the clearest indication yet that he will seriously consider stepping away from front-line football management at the end of the season to take up the sort of executive role on offer at Paris St-Germain.

Although Wenger’s first instinct is to again manage - and he thinks some recent assessments of his work are tinged with “age discrimination” - he has also opened a door to the possibility of taking the ‘general manager’ position in Paris alongside new incoming head coach Thomas Tuchel.

“Maybe with a distance I will think, ‘no, maybe it’s a time to change a little bit direction’,” said Wenger. “That’s what I have to decide. This has been a fantastic period for me but I have to turn the page and go for the next challenge.

Wenger is adamant that his friendship with PSG president Nasser bin Ghanim Al-Khelaïfi, who he has got to know through his work with beIN Sports, will not influence this next decision.
