  2. Have to assume that the general lack of frantic activity on site suggests that the project is on course..... less than 4 months to go so I imagine if there were worries over completion then it would be busier at weekends. Looking hopeful :emoticon-0148-yes:

It's never a good look when your Twitter feed makes you look like the Spurs version of those FBPE dullards.

The first bridge up to the expensive bar and lounge in the North Stand roof went in yesterday afternoon [top right]. A few more roof panels and some of the 'glass' roof bits have gone in today on the West Stand. The highest part of the Skywalk [South Stand] has gone in. I love the idea of going up there but hate heights, so I'll probably wimp out.

Progress remains leisurely at best. There must be some supreme confidence of getting it done, as the site seems to pretty lacking in external labour and night time shifts are minimal right now. Apparently, tonight sees the final delivery of pitch trays.

    GET ON WITH IT.

Question for the engineers out there, why is the roof panel installation all over the place. Some on the west stand some on the east a bit in the north and none in the the south end, seems a bit odd.

  9. Not an engineer, but I would think that the South Stand is being left until they have completed the installion of the screens etc.

At a guess, they may be the load-bearing sections of the roof. That would explain why the parts mid-way down the east and west stands as well as one of the corners are in place

    Was at WHL today.

Two glass panels and the hbic arch is complete.

The Spurs emblems at the NW and SW corners of the stadium
are now visible from the High Rd.

Saw three more of the pitch tray sections delivered today.
Hardly any space at the Park Lane entrance to manoeuvre
    the lorry thru the gate.

Without analyzing the structure its hard to be definitive but I'd guess it's a balance issue. You wouldn't want all of the weight in one section and nothing elsewhere. Imagine putting all of the weight on one side of a see saw.

An interesting and 100% genuine bit of news from Matilda Collywobbles [Matthew Collycott, Tottenham Director of Finance] posting in relation to possible events for the opening of the new stadium....

"A few options are being considered, ranging from opening training to charity events. First event will focus on crowd safety and stadium management. Support systems where connected are currently under test with no issues. We’re on schedule."

So, we're on schedule although whether that's mid-August, mid-September or somewhere in between wasn't addressed.

  14. The good news is that the stadium is on course for completion in 3 months. Only problem is that they were referring to the Martian calendar!! <yikes>

    7. BUSINESS COMMUNITY LIAISON GROUP MEETING: LATEST NOTES
The latest BCLG meeting was held on 17 April at Lilywhite House, with Pete Haine in attendance for THST. Key take outs from the meeting are as follows:

    • A record number of people working on site was recorded this week (2,607), with an average on the night shift of 300 workers on site
    • The stadium roof lift and installation has progressed well, with the framework now fully in place. The roof will now be fitted with glass panels and cassettes
    • The pitch tray deliveries are nearing completion (4 per night, expected to be completed by the end of April) and the work to lay the NFL pitch has started
    • The GA seats continue to be installed across all levels
    • Internal works are progressing quickly, with work on many concourses, restaurants, toilets and bars now reaching completion
    • The stadium build and south plaza will be ready in time for opening in August, but that some external landscaping works may be installed on an interim basis for safety reasons
    • Test events are being planned for August. They will be ticketed and will test out all functions of the new stadium
    • The Tottenham Experience will hopefully be ready to open at the same time as the stadium
    • There are plans for a new community café at 810 High Road, close to Percy House
    • Information on road closures before, during and after stadium events will be presented at the next BCLG meeting
    • THFC continues to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the upgrade works at the four key local stations (White Hart Lane, Seven Sisters, Northumberland Park and Tottenham Hale) are completed as quickly as possible. THFC is also working to have adequate plans in place to ensure wait times and queue organisation are as good as they possibly can be for stadium opening
    • The new shuttle buses that will be in place for match day one, along with an extensive messaging plan to local residents and fans, will help manage any issues caused by unfinished stations not working at capacity
It's a bit out of date now but represents what little genuine information is available on the project and it's all positive

My money is on first PL home game on the
first weekend in September, and as many
"test events" as possible in August to iron out
any potential PR disasters for a real match.

    I nearly forgot....well, I actually I forgot completely but...

Mrs B spent a day at Twickenham last week on a 'work thing'. They did a tour of the stadium and part of that tour involved a talk from the groundsman. Mrs B had a bit of a chat with him regarding the use as a venue for NFL last year. His view was that it was a spectacular disaster, particularly markings on the turf, which they couldn't get rid of afterwards ad there's zero chance of them coming back. Given this and the Spurs experience with the London Monarchs screwing up the playing surface, any idea that you could play an entire season of NFL at Wembley without it materially affecting any proper football there is a complete nonsense.

On the same issue, I've read an article about problems with the roof at Wembley and bits falling off it. This was alleged to be one of the reasons for the proposed sale. Less helpfully, in the same article it suggested that the cost of remedial works would fall on the contractors/designers, not the FA, and that the only real issue was finding a window of time to do the necessary works. So, not really a problem at all, eh guys?
