Having only taken one point from our first two games, with Utd winning both of theirs and with us missing Wilshere, Song, Frimpong and Gervinho, the odds looks stacked against us today. That said, we showed great spirit in Italy on Wednesday and made it count when it was needed. I think the team will have got a massive lift from that result. In a way, the pressure is slightly off us today, as I don't think anyone is expecting us to win, which could play right into our hands. We're going to need Szczesny and the back four to be on top of their game today. I think Szczesny will relish this sort of game - he is a big game player and just the sort of character we need in the team today. (Future captain imo) One thing we can be sure of is that our brilliant away supporters will be in full voice today, so let's all get behind the team and start giving them the support that they deserve. Team news: Arsenal - Szczesny; Jenkinson, Djourou Koscielny, Traore; Coquelin, Ramsey, Rosicky; Walcott, Van Persie, Arshavin. No Vermaelen or Sagna either.... p.s. This is deliberately not a cross board thread as both Arsenal and Utd mods have agreed that it would attract wums and start a cyber fight, therefore this thread is designed for fans to talk about the match and not start a wum fight - any comments that do, will be deleted.
Quietly confident about the game today! Short of options in midfield, so Theo will probably have to operate a little deeper. Chamakh should start this one & give United's CBs something to think about. RVP can play a freer role than of late. My line up would be Sczezsny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Jenkinson, Rosicky, Ramsey, Djourou, Walcott, Van Persie, Chamakh. I know this leaves us down to the bare bones i.e Ryo, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arshavin (lol), but we need to start competitively.
Agreed I think we need to play Walcott deeper. Utd are going to come at us, so we'll be playing on the counter for most of the game. We need to get Walcott running onto balls behind defenders to open them up. It's a shame Gervinho isn't playing, he would have been brilliant in this role too today. (****ing Joey Barton )
play walcott deeper as in a 442 with rosicky left? or walcott in the middle in a 4312 behind van Persie and Chamakh. i hope u mean the 4411/442 thing
Whatever happens... I don't think we can be too disappointed. A win is desired, but not expected given our current problems. I think the performance will more important than the result. Let's just give it a go and see what happens.
The missus has cooked a ****ing big breakfast to set me up for the day.The coach is picking me up at 12-40.I'm wearing my lucky underpants
As a Liverpool fan I want Arsenal to win. Man U to win 2-0 though imo. As much as it hurts to admit, I don't see Arsenal winning.
All I am asking for is a spirited, composed display. If we get a draw, I'd actually be over the moon.

arsenal team: Szczesny; Jenkinson, Djourou, Koscielny, Traore; Ramsey, Coquelin, Rosicky; Walcott, v.Persie, Arshavin. Vermaelen and Sagna failed late fitness tests. We are screwed.
Our only chance is that arshavin rolls back the clock and plays like one of the best players in the world again. Odds of that seem long, as he is just a little fatty now. Lets compare this side vs the invincibles. Makes me depressed.
First time I have agreed with merson on sky. Said we need arshavin to get back into form or we are screwed.
im going to be bold and predict a draw, maybe im still drunk from last night, who knows, but a draw it is.
