Agreed. Despite their struggles, I'd go so far as to say that Swansea's likelihood of getting relegated is seriously overstated at the moment. If Swansea wins on the final day, Huddersfield needs either a win or two draws from their final three to stay up, and that's a very tall task with their fixtures.
I've calmed a little, only a little mind but I still don't like Mr.Moss. Don't expect to change my mind any time soon!
Yep, now is not the time to blame individuals. We've all been on Redmond's case and he was our best player today. Let's man up a bit, and go smash Swansea on Tuesday night.
I'm not suggesting 30 seconds is a hard and fast rule, I'm pretty sure refs have always had the discretion to vary the time they add on, but I'd be surprised if the amount of time that gets added on per sub has changed very much. My guess would be that if anything players now take longer to get off the pitch than they used to.
If Swansea were going to play for four points, wouldn’t they be doing that whether we won or drew today? If they are assuming we lose to Man City, and they beat Stoke, that is a three point gain for them. So it would not matter if they went into the last game tied or down two points. I guess this gives them the luxury of a draw against Stoke but who plays for a draw against Stoke? Moreover who plays for two straight draws while in the relegation zone and needing the right results from two other teams to avoid relegation even if they succeed? I’m not saying Swansea is going balls out to win, but IMO they would be stupid to just play for draws.
If Swansea go down, they really do only have themselves to blame. At a maximum, four points from their last two games should do it. And there's every chance that they won't even need that. Unlike us and Huddersfield, they have a very favourable fixture list.
Yes, exactly. It's why I and others have said that, in relation to us and Swansea, that Everton goal doesn't really count for much. It was a massive goal in relation to us and Huddersfield though. No way should Swansea play for a draw against Stoke, I'm not suggesting that. But assuming that they do win that, then a draw against us beforehand would keep them up - unless we were to beat to City AND Huddersfield were to beat (most likely) Arsenal. Whereas if they lose to us, they would need a huge turnaround in GD to catch us. Very unlikely. Realistically, they would be wholly reliant on Huddersfield only picking up one more point (which is actually very likely, which if anything adds even further credence to the view that a draw on Tuesday will do Swansea very nicely; because there's a decent chance that they could survive even by losing that, such is their "nice" position!).
2 hours after the game and still gutted! Less angry about the extra minutes but more angry about the non existant free kick. BUT I am confident of beating Swansea they have only scored twice in 7 games and we are unbeaten in 3 in the league. It is simple win on Tuesday and we will stay up. We are the better team so just need to stay focused and believe in ourselves
If 'Udders get something from either Citeh or Chelsea then they fully deserve to stay up, in fact i'd much rather they did than Swansea TBH.
In Rugby Union they do literally stop the clock during stopages. We all know that a sub can take at least 30 seconds (winning-last few minutes) or about 5 seconds (one goal down, same point. The third official could add on a minute or two for blatant time wasting by keepers taking goal kicks but if a clock displayed the time and it stopped for substitutions, you can bet that they would happen quicker and then time added would be routinely a minute. Less controversy and bad language on this board. I am feeling positive about things at present as we are playing much better and have better form than Swansea. If there is such a thing as Karma (spoiler-there isn’t) we shall win 3-0. 2 outrageous deflections and Tadic will palm the ball over their keeper into the net, this deliberate handball going unnoticed for some reason.
I'm still saying 50-50 for a Saints win there, it will be tougher than tonight's match IMO, facing a passionate crowd and a team fighting like us.
Things I know We drew, but were the best side. Moss is a homer. Beat the Swans and we've just about scraped to safety, unless we completely meltdown against Citeh and I don't think even we are that bad. Moss is a homer Refereeing has been consistently **** this season.
Glad I was out....that late goal would have been unbearable. Had little luck this season....though results today went for us. We are in some form, so we have a decent chance of beating them.
