Totally. Chelsea is must not lose, and we have to play the first team. Doubtless we'll be as flat as pancake though. We need something so that we can just turn up against Brighton, regardless of whether they need anything, then we'll probably win. I thought we were incredibly lucky against 'Boro last season - Lovren should have been off and us a goal down before we scored. We really don't want a panicky last day when we have a CL final coming up. Let's hope we can put the kids out against Brighton, though I suspect not.
Just my opinion here... 1. mane injury.we need to watch that. he missed stoke. I think he might well miss this one. 2. Lovren. he might have a back issue. I don't know but again he might drop out. 3. robertson is suddenly being managed by klopp. I've not heard why. 4. Milner has been very carefully managed by klopp too. being brought on as sub in league with CL games on in same week. I have to say there may be reasons not really publicized why klopp might not be able to play the same team as last night in cheslea game. Last night was 100% the best team available but can we get away with playing this side again on sunday?
That result would be ok, but the last half hour would finish me off. We need to be at least a couple of goals up so that the late cock-ups don't cost us too much.
We have to be very careful we don't pick up more injuries and blow our chance in the final. Chelsea know this and will probably play an aggressive game. No doubt it's tricky. Not knowing who is fit, have to trust Klopp, but there shouldn't be any risks. As dangerous as doing so might be, Salah needs a rest. I'd be tempted to rest several top players and put a gamblg on winning last game of season. Playing our strongest team in round 38 to seal too 4.
No need to rest anyone v Chelsea. Have another week to prepare for Brighton and then another 2 weeks until the final. Get a nice break after brighton to fully recover.
It is interesting reading the newspapers today that most of them said how Roma should have 2 clear penalties: one by Karius and the other TAA. They said that had they been given we could have been in big trouble. Well the reality is that the winning of trophies involve a lot of luck and not necessarily who’s got the strongest team. If it were like that City and Madrid would win everything. It is the luck and unpredictability which makes the game so compelling.
It's not so much that they are fresh for BHA, its so that they don't pick up injuries playing against Chelsea.
Did they mention the pen they did get which shouldn't have been, and the one we weren't given? Oh, and the red that wasn't given for the potential leg-breaking scissor tackle?
1) not all penalties go in. 2) if we had conceeded in one of those earlier incidents, who is to say that wouldn't have changed our tactics and how we approached the game. You can't go back and say if they had a penalty it would have been 5-2. It would have been a different game at that point, so can't predict. Maybe it would have spurred us to get another. 3) If they HAD scored one of those other penalty shouts and everything else played identically... ... They would have run out of time and not got the penalty they were awarded in the dying seconds... So it is rather moot. Absolutely, they deserved one of those penalties... But that doesn't mean they would have won the game on aggregate. We can't say what would have happened. Personally, I suspect we still would have won.
A risk that has to be taken when there's still a lot at stake. We could easily fail in the final, so we have to make sure we're there next year through league qualification.
We only need to win one game. Chelsea is the harder of the two. I'm not saying rest people for the sake of it, I'm suggesting, if there is even the slightest concern of fitness give them a rest. Take zero risks for their health and win the last game. Our squad is so thin right now, an injury to Salah, or Mane, or a midfielder... And it is curtains... Both in the league and the Champions League.
Which is why we need the better players. And they'll have almost three weeks to the CL final to get over any minor knocks picked up on Sunday. We really can't afford to lose this weekend. We'll still have one last chance, but I really don't want this to come down to a must-win scenario on the last day.
We only need a point against Chelsea whilst we need to beat Madrid (by pens if necessary). The Chelsea match should be easier for us but the problem would be coming down from a high. The Chelsea match is also not an end point and can salvaged by beating Brighton at home. For the Chelsea we. Only. Need. A. Point. I hope that the players realise this and make sure we do not lose.
