That offside 3rd goal at Klanfield turned out to be the difference.

wasn't there a blatant Liverpool handball in their penalty area last night too?

Yes, although I believe it was flagged offside anyway

  5. Credit where its due - they are in a CL final. Something we should have been much closer to!

However, the media hype following the ultimately fortunate victory last night is expectedly nauseating! :emoticon-0119-puke:

No one seems to have considered that if Pool lose their last 2 PL games, Chavs win all 3 and we get at least 2 points from 3 - not an outrageous suggestion - and they then lose to RM in the final, they will drop to 5th and miss out on CL next season altogether Can you imagine the fall out of that...... :emoticon-0136-giggl

Couldn't happen could it? That and the Spanners getting sunk would be one helluva end to the season :emoticon-0148-yes:

But better focus back on our own targets first. 3 points at the weekend for starters!

    I said that elsewhere earlier.
We have the chance to turn the screw on both of them.

IMHO this game is must win for Chelsky, whatever the
    Spurs result is.

The Poool mindset however will be interesting now.

They have a plan B, in that they could still enter the
CL next season by winning the final. Whether they
get complacent and not put Chelsky to the sword ASAP,
    time will tell.

Actually I think for the first time I heard the suggestion yesterday on radio that Pool are not guaranteed a top 4 finish. They were presumably stuck on their narrative that we were the ones fighting for 4th/5th with Chelski when there's a good chance we'll actually finish 3rd. But don't let the facts get in the way of sentimentality eh?

As for the fall out, I think that the pundits will go easy on them if they finish 5th, pointing to the "great adventure" or some such bollocks. They have, after all, failed to pick up on our almost decade of finishing above them (except for the one season of course).

They had much more help from the officials in the £ity tie, offside goal given, goals disallowed and penalties not given for £ity etc.

All of current PL 3/4/5 can still finish in any of
those positions. But in terms of current likelihood
    tis obviously Spurs/Poool/Chelsky being the
    end positions.

And a penalty not given because of a wrong offside call.

I don't see The Mousers winning at the weekend. They might get a draw but their squad is creaking a bit right now and the team they put out against Stoke was poor and some players are going to be done in after last night. Chelsea are getting results without hitting fantastic form and Hazard's decided to try again.

A draw might be the best result for us, but I've got a feeling that Chelsea will win it and Liverpool will need a win against Brighton on the final Sunday. Klopp's record in Cup Finals is about as bad as our current run on FA Cup Semi-Finals. This could get interesting.

But what have you done with all these finishes ahead of us?

Thankfully you have made a name for yourselves on the European stage, or have you pulled an Arsenal and associated top 4 finishes with success but never look close to winning anything in Europe?

Got the club finances and squad strength to a point
where Spurs can make a league title challenge two
seasons running, for the first time since God knows when.

We've invested a lot of money in a new stadium whilst steadily improving as a team. We'd fallen a long way and it's a long road back from where Sugar left us. That investment has restricted wages and transfers but the stadium means that we are 'back in the game'.

Citeh and Chelsea have given the impression that building a successful club can happen instantly but it's not the only model. Our new stadium means that we'll be matching you and Arsenal and Chelsea on income which we've been a million miles away from over the last decade or so. It'll remain a '''Big 6' because of that investment.

I think Pools high energy game may be catching up with them. It may be coincidental but there's been a number of times where the team's performance has dropped off massively in the last quarter of the game. If so, there's no time for it to improve in what remains of the season. If Roma had drawn level, I would certainly have fancied their chances in extra time. They may have just done enough to get over the line in the league already though.

Planning permission already in place to rebuild the Anfield Rd End and bring the capacity up 59,000.

But it's not just matchday income that Spurs should be looking at, there's currently discussions ongoing about clubs who are shown live the most abroad getting a bigger slice of the tv money, IF that comes about Spurs might fall further behind us in the money stakes.

In Africa where SuperSport do most of the coverage every match is shown live so it wouldn't make much of a difference.

That's a good idea. We should have thought of that before we built the only multi-purpose stadium in the UK. <laugh>

Maybe, but that would mean Utd, us, Chelsea, City and of course Spurs would take that into consideration, which they obviously have, it's down to viewing figures and advertising.

OT was and still is the first multi-purpose stadium in the UK, pop concerts, Rugby League semi finals and finals, even a few Rugby Union games.:emoticon-0105-wink:
