Car tax about £150-£200 for an average sized car, mot if under 3 years old about £40 a year, insurance can be anything depending on where you live and your history and age. For my car it's about £300 a year and for the wife £450 but we can drive each others cars.

No just giving you the cost for running a car in general, spoke to someone who's daughter just passed her test at 18 and the insurance is £4k for her, the car is only worth a grand or so

Don't forget Musty, 3rd party insurance is included with rego. Apart from that you don't need other car insurance in QLD but it'll be daft not to. Everything here has gone through the roof since the floods. I know you knew that, just telling everybody else so they'll feel sorry for us!

But she could cause damage worth £millions if she causes serious injury to some in an accident. It's the liability to other road users that's the main cost of insurance, not the car itself.

When was the last time you heard about a car driver causing millions of pounds worth of damage ? And some people are a liability to other road users full stop , that is why they are driving without insurance and are often the cause of accidents.

Pricing people out of insurance completely will encourage people to use uninsured cars, having road tax with third party insurance for each vehicle could help, or fuel taxed for insurance might work, though logistically it will be extremely difficult thing to do .

But there was an answer to this girls problem, a tracker was fitted on the car by the insurance company, and she couldn't drive it between 11pm and 6am and they cut her insurance down to under a grand, so there is hope out there.

Hey! Don't you have a bbq without inviting me! Sydney and Melbourne is where the work gets done, Brizzy and the Gold Coast is where the fun gets done, and you know what? they even sell Felinfoel bitter in the paddo tavern!
Its great to get the coverage here, trouble is they haven't got a clue where we are from. recently on tv on the footy show (mainly rugby league) all the pundits thought we were from Scotland! Mark Schwartzer, who was a guest had to put them right. Also there is a sports outlet near me who prides itself in having all premier league jerseys. I ordered the Swans away shirt, the bloke said he had some in stock. When I went in to collect it he proudly presented me with a Blackpool jersey!!

Musty, the water stopped 20 metres from my front door although I did evacuate at the time. A dead bull shark was found in Oxley High Street! God how I miss Killay!!
