Although in their last 9 they have W4 D2 L3 and the 4 wins were Udders, Stoke, Brighton & Newcastle, so no-one that great Not disagreeing with you at all, just playing stats tennis We are going to have to play well to get anything from this game, they will not hand it to us
What Everton have done and we haven't is pick up points against the poorer sides....criminal that we not only didn't get anything against Newcastle and West Ham, but were turned over collectively 6-0. Still that is for end of season whinging....this is Great Escape time.
Hopefully Mahrez will be thinking about impressing prospective new employers Their attack could cause havoc if the Ammers start slow or get lazy
It is REALLY all about what the Saints do! Get the points needed; then all will be well........ simples!
I agree that's all we can do. But we'll still be relying on results elsewhere - unless we can put 4 points between us and three teams below us by the 13th of May, we'll be looking at other results around the country right up til the final whistle on the last day.
But are we compared to other bottom teams...we have let in fewer goals than every team from Crystal Palace down....apart from being equal to WBA. And remember we let in 6 against just two teams. I would suggest it is the importance of those goals that really count....dropped points late in the game, rather than shipping more goals than other teams. Perhaps suggesting we are weak when seriously pressed towards the end of the match.
Well done for getting him to tweet that! I will say, once again, at the risk of boring everyone on here, that nobody has ever denied the importance of a good atmosphere. What you somehow have always disregarded that there is a dialectical relationship between what happens on the pitch and the noise levels and general encouragement from the crowd. It’s a two-way process and always will be.
I'm leaving the autopsy for the end of the season. Also I can't stand it when with three games to go, some gossip column lets us know that X is leaving, Y is signing and Z just isn't happy. Two weeks, then we'll be looking for things to debate!
yeah, its hard because its an automatic reaction. but the tension levels in the stands matched the level on the pitch after we conceded that first goal against Chelsea in our first defeat. If we can somehow recognise it happening and react ourselves i think it would help the players, but its always going to be hard to get 30000 people to do that. edit: still i dont think its a bad idea for the players and staff to encourage the fans to recognise the players need support so they can make a conscious effort to keep it up. every little helps.
I would suspect that "Le Tiss" is speaking from experience. Afterall, how many seasons did he (& Saints) rely on the Dell crowd/atmosphere to lift the team; and, subsequently, out of their numerous relegation scraps in the past.
He certainly did. But then his comment this morning only validates his professional view of how the positivity from the home crowd raises the spirits of players in trying times/moments in games.
