Good morning Eire Barmy, crackers, crazy signing Idiots running the asylum is a perfect description of that particular error
Morning all. My choice would be Billic. We always seemed to skimp on managers , we take the cheap option, which is crazy on perhaps the most important role at the club. We have had a good few players go on to play at a higher level, some gaining international caps, non of our managers have gone on to do anything when they leave. IMO we need to get the right manager support him and most importantly give him time to achieve his targets, we haven't done anything right the last 20 years, so lets take a different approach, our fans are notoriously impatient but I think the right appointment with a few decent playing additions taking us in the right direction, then build again the following season, with the future looking brighter we may find we will give it the couple of years it may take. Bartley, far too much of a risk for that money.
The decision that irritates and annoys me the most was the sale of Chris Wood after the season had started and we were just starting to look a half decent bet for Top 6 or maybe even Top 2. Just to remind everyone again...Wood had 2 seasons remaining on his contract and after declining a new deal did not need to be sold until this summer. Obviously Radz needed the money but the timing of the sale was completely wrong for us as football club and the offer should have been rebuffed until at least January.
Couldn't agree with you more Jammy, we should have pushed the boat out to keep him. We took the money & have paid the consequences Losing Wood, Bartley, Taylor, Green & even Doukara from last seasons squad totally decimated us
Spot on 64. Think even just keeping Wood and Green would have been enough to make the play offs. Both under contract so strong ownership/management from the top was needed but was sadly lacking. Not only that but would have set the tone for Radz's stewardship so another opportunity missed.
Anyone else missing Cellino ? Think we would have made the Top 6 easily if he were still at the helm. Oh and still haven't forgotten the witch hunt by the EFL to ban him at each and every opportunity. Which begs the question why wasn't he better supported by our fans ? We keep saying we need a strong manager/coach, well we had a strong owner and it seemed most wanted him out because they couldn't afford a pie.
Would you agree 64, that if he repeats the season just finished again, wed be better off if he sells up?
My gut reaction last year was that radz would be good for the club (jury firmly out on that one) but that he’d likely Made a clanger with Orta and tc and that Orta’s role/impact would be tricky to unravel. I said last summer that i’d Judge him on how he handled the (likely) realisation that he’d made a mistake. It was obvious that the finger would point at coach first before dof and january’s Coach change hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. This summer will tell us a lot about how quick he learns and how serious he is.
Maybe we try to get better managers but none will touch us with a ten foot pole. Were hardly ever likely to be told
You could be right mate, we will never know, but surely there will be one out there if we looked hard enough and pay more than £4k per week.
