As others have said, pretty crap performance but we got the job done.
Some tired legs out there and we need to freshen it up a bit against West Brom, in my opinion.
Dier looks shattered and Trippier got smashed all over the place. You know there's a bad tackle when the player making it instantly apologises.

Was Oliver as **** as it looked from the stands, as some of his decisions just looked mystifyingly bad?
Maybe he's knackered too, as while I'm not his biggest fan by any means, he's normally not that terrible, is he?

I can't stand that expressions bloke, basically our equivalent dickhead of the AFTV lot. See him so many times around Wembley, it's tempting to lob a can at his head and break his camera.

There's a bloke who sits near me and lets out a loud and ill-informed unceasing 90-minute rant, comprising negative invective regarding Spurs players and the ref through every game he attends. It was such a relief he waasn't there last night! He'd have been apoplectic. We'd all have been aurally numbed. (I'm not the only one who objects to his behaviour.)
For me, as a Spurs fan, making such comments very audibly at a game is not supporting your team. I'm sometimes critical of players, tactics, etc on here - but that ain't the same as giving opposing players the encouragement of knowing they're upsetting people who are theoretically supporting Spurs. Sometimes keeping your opinion to yourself is not a bad option.

You didn’t need to be in the stands. In fact you could have been blindfolded, in a tunnel in Mordor to know that <laugh>

He was dreadful, totally incompenetent and verging on biased at times. I really don’t understand how he is so highly regarded.

While I'm on here, a couple of afterthoughts concerning last night's game.

First, I'm quite a fan of our current two full-backs, not least because they play within their limitations, and give 100% every game. But the key limitation is that they are both in the habit of turning back inside when they receive the ball, unless they're in the final third, when they (especially Trippier) wil contemplate a cross. They very rarely consider the option of trying to beat the defender on the outside, and getting to the by-line - the classic winger's manouevre. This inevitably slows down every attacking move. The only way they get to the by-line is by becoming involved in a series of triangles as they advance pass by pass with team-mates. That is why we have such a problem with teams that set out their stall to defend and choke us. In short, they depend too much on the presence of a team-mate to pass to. It's about having variety in the approach: they are a tad too predictable, and it's costing us. Why on earth don't they sometimes (say, one in three?) have a go at getting round their marker withut passing the ball? Are they being coached out of that?

Second, and not unrelated, is the fundamental problem we have in turning from defence into attack. I weep at the memory of Bale and Lennon picking up the ball inside our half and then putting their foot on the gas to get into our opponents' final thrid before they have a chance to reorganise and prepare to repel boarders. (Oh my Galvin and my Anderton long ago!) (Or even Ralphy Coates!). We have no-one who is really willing to do this these days. Lamela could, but doesn't. Dembele used to do it from our half to halfway into our opponents' half, but nowadays runs out of steam when he crosses the halfway line (and then passes to an opponent anyway!). I think Moura could, if ever he got onto the pitch. Son can sometimes, but seems to have lost the will to some extent. I would really like to see some evidence that players have been told to try to get forward with energy and determination, rather than taking twenty-five pretty little passes to get up to the halfway line. Last night we had a free-kick just into their half, and after ten/twelve passes the ball was at Sanchez's feet twenty yards back into our own half. Possession stats are meaningless when we play that sort of game. It doesn't even wear out our opponents because it's all so slow and predictable. Wears out my patience a bit, though!

Third, it was a disappointing performance, I agree, but not worthy of some of the extreme criticism there's been on here. And I thought we began with quite a flourish and deserved our goal. Trippier was outstanding - but partly because he became the target for over 50% of our attacking passes (then see above!). Hugo back to his best. Verts and Dav pretty solid. Eriksen effective for 75% of the game. Dembele needs a rest again. So does Dier. And Ben, unfortunately.
    And.........
Oh, that's enough (I hear you shout!).

I hate those types, they're not fans in my eyes. I've actually had a run-in with one about 5 years ago.

I was a typical "football lad" back then. It was an FA cup game and we had a guy with his mate sit in front of us that I'd never seen before, must have been mid-30s I'd say (I would've been 22-23 give or take).
He kept on slagging the team off so after about 30 mins I told him to shut his mouth along with a few choice words. Right before HT my younger cousin who was about 16 went to the loo, when he came back he told me how the guy grabbed him in the concourse and threatened him for getting lippy (even though it was me who told him to shut up). When I found out I went looking for the bloke, managed to find him as he was just exiting the toilets so pushed him aside and grabbed him by the throat, gave him a small headbutt (not hard enough to do any damage) and told him to say what he said to my cousin to me, a couple of guys I know pulled me off and told me to calm down, I offered to meet him after the game but he just walked off, he never returned to his seat for the second half either so worked out well <laugh>

'Scuse my ignorance, but are you talking about the guy in vid above? If the video is typical of him, I loved it, full of passion, humour and love of our club?

    Yeah.

I think it's pathetic. I can't stand all of these modern era fans taking cameras to games and videoing themselves for 90 minutes. It's fake support in my opinion, does it just to make money off of YouTube.

I must admit, I wouldn't like to sit next to him, apart from anything, having my ugly mug plastered over the Internet wouldn't amuse me. Perhaps the above is a one-off then. I did enjoy it.

If you like that video you'll probably enjoy his stuff as it's all similar, search expressions or expressions spurs on YouTube and you'll likely find his page.

Just can't stand the concept of videoing yourself at a game, there's no way I'd have someone do that next to me. Not truly watching the match or supporting the team because you're 50% focused on watching yourself on camera. His persona just winds me up, too, just think all in all he's a massive knob. As I said it's just fake support in my opinion, acts up for the camera to increase his views on his adsense YouTube account.

He was so wrong with the booking for Wanyama and totally missed the foul on Trippier early on. He should probably booked a couple of Watford players as well
