Arsenal are already guaranteed a Europe League place as Man City won the League Cup and either Chelsea or Man Utd will win the FA Cup and all three have already qualified for Europe through their league positions. Burnley are also pretty much guaranteed Europe League as Everton have to make up 6 points and 15 goals in 2 games...!!
Didn't go Saturday as I was ill but my mate I usually sit with said there was a real different (positive) atmosphere and that it felt like the players and fans believe we can do something special now. Certainly seemed that way looking at the videos and highlights too. I think we'll get four points from Swansea and Everton and that would hopefully see us safe.
I hope we can use this “new found grit” to get us over the finishing line. I know the “3 points for a win” was brought in to encourage more teams to go for a win, rather than just park the bus and avoid losing, but it is a bit galling to know that 9 teams above us have suffered more defeats than us. Having said that, they have also won more than us. Too many draws have done for us.
I have a feeling we'll go into the last day level on points with Hudders and Swansea. Should make for a very twitchy bummed afternoon.
If that is the case and Arsenal manage to win, I will take back everything i've ever said about their departing, whinging, myopic, duvet wearing, academy stalking, cheese eating, surrender monkey manager...
And those draws kept MP2 in the job....the board probably thought (like many of us) that every draw was just one goal from a win....surely, surely one was just round the corner.
I'm inclined to agree - as hideous as their run in looks, at the knackers end of the season I don't see them losing all three. Much as I don't see us losing all three of ours...
It seems like their most likely chance for points, but thankfully being Wengers last game you'd expect them to really want to get a win for him to finish on. Chelsea are also very hit or miss and have only just been scrapping up 3 points despite playing poorly recently. At the end of the day we could barely have asked for a tougher final 3 games for Hudders. We just need to pick up as many points as we can and hope the rest sorts itself out.
Arsenal have been ****e away from home this season. Only 3 wins all year and 0 points so far in 2018. Would be a huge gamble relying on that imo and I still think we need to win two games.
