You see, don't forget that Winnebago was a creation-myth god of the American Indians. He was a bit of a trickster who kept his penis in a box for surprise purposes (genuinely, not making it up). So Winnebago is a brand name that should always bring to mind a prick in a box. Vin
Hi Helen, I'm doing my bit here in Serbia, getting my stray sterilised next week. Ziplining? Boring as ****!
Fantastic, SiS. I really wish more people would get their cats neutered, the stats of how many kittens can come from a single cat is scary. In our small branch in 2016 we spent over £22,000 on neutering but we haven't scratched the surface.
I'm trying to get the vets here to do wild cats for free, or at least for cost. I've nearly signed one up! my daughter is a vet in Wolverhampton so I know it's a fairly easy operation for cats. Much more difficult for big dogs. The stray I have adopted is probably the only one from 4 litters to have survived from the mother cat. Biggest problem is catching the cats. They're not too keen on being caged and the vets aren't too keen to let them out!
Yes, we do a lot of feral neutering and the vet has to be confident in dealing with the cats. We have deals with three vets in our county but the cheapest is £40 so it soon mounts up. Cats Protection and the RSPCA have a joint scheme in Wales where owned or stray cats are neutered and microchipped for £5 and it's made a huge difference.
Maybe I can set up something similar here. I'll be asking you for advice! The main problem here is stray dogs, which probably keeps the cat population low. It's hard to judge the number of cats because they are nocturnal! (although I'm keeping 4 alive so there's a few!)
As a fellow ailurophile I will make a donation as soon as my pension is paid in! Enjoy the zipwire, I had a go from the top of Priddy church a few years ago and it was fab!
Awwww, thanks so much Chilcs, I knew I liked you for a reason The one I'm doing is about a mile and a half long, so a lot of time for screaming
Is there a cat or animal charity in Serbia? It's National CP (not us as a branch) and the RSPCA who pay the vets about £40 to cover their costs so that people on benefits, retired or low income only have to pay £5. The branch pays for cats in our care and ferals to be neutered and sometimes for multi-cat households even if the owners work but it's a long, hard, heart-breaking part of being involved with CP.
