Politicians don't answer questions, cos usually if they do, they'll get the answer mind blowingly wrong - on camera .

So good on her for playing safe

What does it say about the people that vote for her to represent them as their MP, she may be softly spoken but she is a very unpleasant person and it is laughable that she has the gall to talk about others incompetence.

Trouble is that by "playing safe" she made herself look very stupid. The logical answer would have been that "if we get into power we plan to have a major overhaul of the UK Border Agency to try and reduce illegal immigration. Once we have got that under control we will then look at resolving the cases of illegal immigrants currently in this country. We will review each case on its merits and not, as in the case of the Tories, to try and appease potential Tory voters"

I don't know who I would vote for in the next election. I couldn't vote for the Conservatives as I feel they have gone too far right. Unfortunately, because of the divisions within Labour they have had to pack their shadow cabinet with people who are not up to the job and I think it will backfire on them.

She is trying to play the race card to explain why people are after her. No love, it’s because you are thick as pig **** and act like a latex free spitting image puppet.

She shouldn’t be allowed in front of a camera.

Out of the two it's Piers who should be nowhere near a camera.

No I don't think she's the best candidate for Home Secretary, Corbyn needs to reach out to the other wing of his party and appoint a more qualified person. Abbott's not thick by any means, she just has a habit of being unprepared and coming across poorly, something that Al Johnson seems to get away with on a regular basis.

Not entirely sure how he didn't end up in jail for that effort.

As for Labour, they've been highjacked by the left wing. <laugh> I've supported Labour most of my life but the current lot are utterly unelectable to me. Lucky for them we don't directly vote for a prime minister and I quite like my local Labour MP. Next election is a long way off though.... isn't it?

unprepared .... I think the answer she gave to the question regarding extra police made her look as thick as mince ,and any leader that thinks the party is electable with her in it, is deluded

Diane Abbott wasn't playing safe, she just didn't want to tell the truth, under Corbyn a Labour Government would do absolutely **** all about illegal immigrants in this country.

I would have thought any government would want to do something about them, whether that be deporting them all or making them all legal. The second solution may not be too everyone’s taste but brings them into the legal economy and generates tax etc plus stops them being exploited to the same extent they are now.

    Agree.
When the real labour comes back and Corbyn and his clowns go.. i’ll be voting for them again.
The sad thing is, I can see him getting in on the back of the Russians manipulating public opinion via social media like they tried to do last time.

I can see him getting in on the back of the kind of populist left wing arguments he raised in the last election, like a Bernie Sanders for the UK. I'm not sold on the man himself but it was refreshing to hear someone talk about bringing rail back into public ownership etc., and not try to occupy the Tory policy base (which worked for Blair in the 90s but won't work now because May's government is far to the right of Major's). I'd prefer someone like Keir Starmer for PM, but hand it to Corbyn, he's managed to energise Labour supporters and added hundreds of thousands of people to the party membership.

Corbyn hasn't energised Labour supporters, what he has done is marginalise the middle ground and add hundreds of thousands of extreme leftist activists to the party membership many of whom were so extreme in the past that Labour would not accept them, Corbyn himself is an ultra socialist with his actual political philosophy rooted firmly in Marxism, he is an opportunist who is quite willing to be flexible in his policies with the single minded objective of winning power. Corbyn knows full well that any promise of nationalisation can never be followed through whilst the UK is a member of the EU as this would go completely against EU regulations, he is a long term Eurosceptic but vacillates on Labours position dependent on voter outcome. As for the current Tory Government being far right of anyone that is just nonsense, they have more in common with Tony Blair than Major, if you want the more extreme socialist policies of Corbyn then fair enough, nationalisation, increased union power, high taxation and unlimited immigration alone will lead to a stagnant economy and with the kind of borrowing outlined to achieve these dreams will have a impact on this country that it may take decades to recover from, it's taken long enough to bounce back from the last Labour Government.

There is a blind unquestioning stance in this country, Labour Good, Tory Bad, it ignores every shred of reality that the best way forwards for this country and any country is a blend of social concern allied with economic and capitalistic direction, the problem with adherents of socialism is that despite all the evidence from all around the world that socialism doesn't work in practise they still want to apply the theory.

I'd argue Nigel Farage marginalised the middle ground. He pulled the Tories to the right and left Labour chasing after them and looking more and more like a watered down version of the Tories under Ed Miliband. And still they were painted by the Tories as socialists who were dangerous for Britain. So **** it, why not swing left under Corbyn? Third way politics is not electorally palatable currently and the Tories are royally screwing up the country. They need to be kicked out as soon as can be managed. It's not even that they're competent but I don't like their policies - they're incapable of government, they shouldn't even be a single party but they stick together out of sheer greed for power, and they're being held to ransom by 60 hard right MPs who want to turn the UK into something between Singapore and Pinochet's Chile. These dimwit Tory ideologues are going to **** the UK economy and retire to their mansions, and you and me are going to pay the price.
