How does that work then? The guy went on TV and made himself look a mug, his face all red and his jowls all flappy like a gungan chieftan.
Some papers claiming we have approached Rafa Benitez already and have promised him a significant transfer budget ... that should make us popular on the Toon board ...
EPL title winning minion club .... with very rich ambitious owners .. think Sunderland but without the EPL Title and the rich am abitious owners ... oh and Premier League status ... plus we are expanding the ground to accommodate our support whereas Sunderland are thinking of closing the top tier to accommodate theirs
Didn't say that - was referring to Champion League - which we won! Plus lost in 1 final. Your league things are hardly comparable - he built ours up until 2009 where we were still much thinner on the ground compared to United, who subsequently won. You guys on the other hand just spent. And spent. And spent...
Then he bought badly as he outspent Fergie gross and matched him net over the course of that season and the previous two.
Was referring to Chelsea rather than United in regards spending. You guys did not need to spend too much. That United team of 2009 was excellent. Ours was pretty good but we didn't have much in depth.
The player turnover at Liverpool under Rafa was ridiculous. He kept signing duds, selling them, then buying more duds. Liverpool fans like to argue this meant he had a low net spend, which it did.... Also means he was **** at buying players
We didn’t need to spend much as Fergie bought well and managed brilliantly. What he achieved from 2006/7 to 2008/9 was incredible given the money Chelsea had and the ****ingness of the Glazers.
We couldn't attract top players so overspent on gambles and potential. Some worked, some didn't. I'm amazed Chelsea and United fans think they know more on Liverpool than a guy who followed it closely at the time. We never bought full blown class players during the period. Could never get them - in fact we still struggle. Chelsea - star studded with recent top success. United - star studded with ongoing, constant success with one of the best managers of all time. Liverpool - not won the league in donkeys years and unlikely to out compete their rivals. I know where I'd want to go if I was foreign.
Aye I get it, just that, in 6 seasons he signed 61 players (just checked it ) Averages at 10 signings a season. and almost the same amount going out, most of the those going out each season, were players he had signed a season or two prior.
Agreed, he bought badly. Below is a list of the players Fergie bought in that 2006/7-2008/9 period which included 3 titles and a European Cup. Berbatov Zoran Tosic Adem Ljajic Ritchie De Laet Manucho Carlos Tevez Nani Tomasz Kuszczak Anderson Owen Hargreaves Rafael Da Silva Fabio Da Silva Rodrigo Possebon Michael Carrick
