has an interesting front floor section & is also very sparse at the rear, would love to see Williams do well this season please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
To be honest, although I like Williams, I wouldn't be surprised if they do worse than last year. I think it was them that were struggling to develop their KERS and had a few problems in the general development of the car. It's 2013 we'll have to look out for. With Patrick Head (?) designing cars for the coming regulations, we could see Williams back to the glory days for a couple of years. I think they should be as successful as Brawn were with regulation changes, but I don't know how Williams will be restricted in any way due to Patrick Head literally making up the new rules. That's if they let them have this advantage. This, unfortunately, could mean the midfield racing of 2012 could be a bit boring because they want to get an edge on front runners with the 2013 cars (as also seen with back markers of 2008)
Good spot with the floor. No idea what it does though. They look like they've got the highest nose of all the teams, looks like it's channelling a lot of flow underneath the car. They've got a really complex looking front wing as well. Hopefully they'll do well this year, it's been too long since they last won a race.
They have the South American megabucks coming in now so next season they could have a car that does the business, but I think this year it will be the same old story with maybe a freak result here and there (like Hulkenburgs pole last year).
I had such high hopes and I've a horrible feeling this car is going to be a flop. I know we shouldn't read too much into testing but it's like the McLaren in 09 scenario. I really hope I'm wrong. I'm inclined to agree with McLarenf1, I think 2013 will be the year Williams start to make a comeback. Their investments and R&D will start paying off.
Frank is still a majority shareholder with 60% is it? With Head retaining close to 30% and Wolff 10%. The stock flotation if it goes ahead will see Williams still retain his position as majority shareholder. He's going to have to retire at some point but I think in terms of the teams' future their exploration into other markets is positive.
Im just wondering how many failed attempts will it be that williams promised to get back to the 'sharp end'. I suppose they havnt slipped from glory all the way to the back like Jordan did.
I know and they show moments of real promise which is SO frustrating! For a good part of 2009 Rosberg was best of the rest.
Haha! I try to be impartial on forums though as like to hear opinions and debate, lifes too short for bitching! Thanks for the banner heads-up!
They'll be back on the podium this year, Rubinho knows what he's doing, he's one of the best drivers for relaying useful feedback to the team. They have some clever design ideas on that car and proved last year that they develop well. Potential surprise package.
Williams and Head should be able to get the car on the podium a few times before they start handing over control and thinking of other things
