yes sir! thanks for your support. I'm afraid it will be another rough season but I suppose they could surprise us. New coach has at least injected a bit of excitement and regardless of the team it's always fun to get ****hammered before the game with friends and family!
Look at Newcastle-Arsenal last season.... geordies were walking out the ground in the second half..... and Newcastle drew 4-4.... anything can happen before the final whistle goes
I pay my £350, and I will decide when I leave. If I have been watching utter dross, its my choice when I leave, end of.
I have never got the car park arguement either, i park 5 minutes from the ground get straight out and probably get home at exactly the same time as all those who left early get home. Why leave early though? If someone who leaves early gives me a logical arguement why i may understand. Even if we play bad surely the logic is to support your team no matter what. Not once have i left early and not once will i.
What about people who fill themselves up with excessive amounts of beer before the game and at half time. I have one near me who I have to stand up for maybe three or four times a game so they can empty. These people probably miss just as much of the match as the ones who leave a few mins early. Is this just as unacceptable or is it OK.
The weirdest one I can remember was West Brom away, we went 3-0 up and almost half the ground left with thirty minutes left to play.
From where I sit in the East Stand most people leaving early seem to be from West Stand lower - enough said!. As a proper supporter, I need to see the game unfold before my very eyes - thats why I come in the first place. Those so called 'supporters' must be nerveless that all I can say - leading by a slender 1-0 at home where we had still to register our first win FFS - or is it that their support is just peripheral?
i repeat: maybe it was before your time. Boxing Day 1969 or 1970-ish. I was about 10 at the time. Hull City v Sheff Wed. City losing 4 - 1 with 5 minutes to go. Me and my mates decide to leave. By the time we got to Tempo Records at White City to see the tele printer on the tele in the shop window, it was 4 - 4. I remember hearing the cheers as we walked down North Road and thinking: 'oh bugger'. I think Chilton got hat-trick as well.
Chillo 2 Waggy and Houghton. I left early that game too with my brother (shame I hear you say after calling people for doing that at the KC) We were leaving Kempton at 4-1 down with 8 mins to go when Chillo scored - we werer walking up to the train at BP Halt when Waggy scored a third and were sat on the train when we equalised. The train was literally rocking. Got to Bus Station and we were all asking if we'd gone on and pinched a winner.
I have only left early once due to my father being taken ill with a heart attack (He wasnt at the game by the way), luckily he survived.
I don't see why people are so bothered, if people want to leave early, it is their risk that they miss a goal. Say if there are 3 minutes of injury time, I often leave 2 minutes into the time if there is a very low risk of a goal being scored. If the game is close, I time it so that I see all of the game, but i'm out of the ground as soon as the whistle goes. Saves me an extra 30 minutes getting home. I have never missed an important goal in my time watching City, I think I have missed perhaps one or two consolation goals here and there, and I think I am willing to sacrifice that in order to save many hours of my life sat in a car park.
You can adjust your toilet break to the right period of play, such as a player down etc. Anyway, they're only storing it in the toilet ready to buy it back from the pump next home game, so it's eco-friendly.
It matters because it must look bad from the players and sponsor perspective. The odd person leaving will have a reasonable excuse, most just seem like poor supporters to me. Their choice, I don't say anything at the ground and don't tend to make a fuss on here, but I don't understand them.
True but then they have to come back again!! Oh and then the ones who leave 5 mins before half time so as to stand a chance in the queue (to get more beer maybe). Oh and the ones who come back 5 mins after play has resumed.
I never understand the issue people have with this. Yes a few people leave 10 minutes early which is strange (unless they have a really good reason) but leaving with 30 seconds to go to save about 15-20 minutes isn't really a problem. Especially when you have a long journey to make. I've pretty much always done this and in about 20 years I have missed exactly 1 goal, and that one didn't change the result. Occasionally I'll stay till the final whistle if a late goal seems likely, usually the game is over with 30 seconds to go as at least 1 of the teams is happy with the result and just wastes the last bit of time. I've always got a season ticket for a seat on the end of the row too so don't really disturb anyone.
They can see it on the TV or dash back when you can tell from the crowd noise and the numbers and demeanor are very different to those leaving early. It's a very different argument.
My Mother was dragged out of this game at 4-1 by her Father and her soon to be Husband... over 40 years on she's still annoyed!!!
Completely agree. Leaving with 15 minutes to go, or when your team go 3-0 down is something which I would say should be criticised. However, leaving with 30 seconds to go is just practical for a lot of people.
o yes i remember the 4-4 game and yes i did sod off before the end but i think that was down to wanting to meet the wednesday fans [ to shake there hands and say well done of course ]...nowadays i sit in the car in car park and listen to radio humberside..have a coffee from flask if lady friend has brought it...and just wait for the car park to start to empty...im never in a rush to be honest and i am allways late for appointments etc..can understand those needing to get a train going a little bit early....didnt george best leave the man utd european cup final when united where 1-0 down only to miss united grab 2 late late goals....lol
