The only surprise is that they waited so long.

    Still a shame though?
I'm sure he could have taken them to pastures new given the chance.....

You can joke Leicester are after Benitez at this minute, so be careful you have the tax carry on to worry about as well. Coleman's signings were appalling mind laurel and hardy goalies to start with.

It looks like sunderland have been taken over by a 'consortium of international investors' led by the chairman or owner of Eastleigh.

Yes, Eastleigh, that giant of non-league football who are currently two points ahead of Gateshead in the National League.

I'm guessing the mackems will be pleased short has gone but not so sure of the new guy. Time will tell...

Eastleigh is a **** tip. So in that regard the new owners will feel at home in Sunderland.

Short appears to have written off all the debt by taking it with him. So Sunderland would be debt-free. Their new management team are complete unknowns to us, but surely the parachute payments could buy them a whole new team for league one. Let's see if they can attract a young manager to turn them around.

They still have some cancerous rot earning stupidly high money for league one mind. They need shifting somehow. I wonder if their fans will be dancing in the streets if this goes through.

There is a good chance the team could crumble after this. Once the parachute payments run dry they won't be able to afford that stadium.

You've got to ask how many chances do the mackems need...or even 'deserve'? Manager after manager after manager sacked, and now, despite all the debts they have incurred and despite all the bad decisions their owner and their management made, here they are again 'threatening' to rise from the ashes with a whole new ownership in place.

    Eastleigh???

At least he is qualified in looking after a non league club.

The Mackems go through managers like I go through cans.

It's pretty obvious that the new fella couldn't cope with the pressure involved with Eastleigh, that's why he's decided to step out of the limelight and take over Sixinarowmarra AFC.
I just hope that the new manager's missus is prepared to wash and iron the kit for Saturday afternoons, we wouldn't want them to look downtrodden would we.

Funny to see Colman’s wife go on Twitter to say she was sad to be leaving Sunderland.

They lived in fuxking Darras Hall ffs hahahaha.

Personally, I think this subject would have been better applied to the 'Warm Glow' thread.

Shame though, I thought Coleman was exactly the right man to guide Sunderland through the next, difficult years.
