It's not actually the voice of Whitney Houston you listen to, it's the voice of Shanice Smith performing Whitney Houston and she's actually very good.

I have never understood why anyone would chose to go and watch a tribute act. This isnt me being ironic, ****y, contrary or any other insult anyone wants to use - I legitimately 100% do not understand the compulsion to watch somebody pretend to be somebody else. Its the same ****s who go to Madame Tussauds - what the **** is fun about standing next to a model of a famous person?

Last year my mate living near London wanted to watch The Southmartins in Leeds so asked if I’d go with him. Cos he was visiting from a long way I thought ‘**** it, how bad can it be?’.

It was one of the worst 90 mins of my life.

Some people perhaps like the songs, as well as the artist. And watching Whitney belt ‘em out live is a bit tricky these days...!

For god's sake, one minute you state you're not slagging anybody off, the next you're calling them ****s. Make your mind up!

    That’s why recordings exist.

And Yeah she’s dead. If you didnt see her when she was alive then tough.

Why does the performer dress up as the star and mimic their mannerisms?

I think it was £15 for The Southmartins. ****ing ridiculous.

Personally, I'm not a fan of tribute acts, though I was once on holiday in the Dominican Republic and they kept announcing round the pool that the the New Year's Eve entertainment was Michael Jackson live (this was while he was still alive). Obviously, we knew Michael Jackson wasn't going to rock up at some random hotel in the Caribbean on New Year's Eve, but we toddled off to watch anyway and it was absolutely fantastic (and I don't even particularly like Michael Jackson). It turned out it was an official show, it had been choreographed by him, it used all his videos as backdrops and had around fifty dancers.

Though I suppose it was a dance show, rather than a tribute act, as the music used was actually Michael Jackson.

Well, I suppose referring to people as 'the same ****s who go to Madame Tussauds' is a term of endearment in your world?

It would make no difference to them, as anyone paying for Daniel O'Donnell tickets wouldn't be aware of anything around them...

I know what you mean, I agree with all of that.

One exception would be the kings of lyon at the opening of the old new tower.

    They were actually awesome,

You would be surprised at how many will be queueing. One can only skake one's head.

I did read what he said. I merely said he would be surprised at how many would be queueing. It certainly amazes me thatbso many people want to see this vapid individual.
Can you only go in straight lines with no divergence?

I did bother reading that you had typed are instead of or before I posted.

i went to see Bill Bailey at a City Hall last night (bloody brilliant). Parked in Albion St car park, and in that short distance I passed two people unconscious on the ground. One being treated by paramedics, next to what looked like a pop-up soup kitchen at the old BHS. The other just lying in the street round the corner, concerned passer-bys trying to offer assistance but his “mate” looked frankly just as out of it but managing to stay upright.

I’ve lived and worked in some major cities, but seeing that in such a central location in daylight was quite shocking.

The polio/sugar in a phone box installation was being guarded by someone in hi-vis later. They reckoned the people responsible for trashing it were drug addicts after the sugar.

Mmm tricky one this, a couple of years back I went to a 60's weekend at Butlins Skegness, Searchers, Marty Wild, Dave Berry and many more, but the thing was, some of the groups had only one of the origial members on show, is that basically a tribut act. The acts themsleves were all first class and a good weekend had by all, many dressed up for the occasion, ok old gits, but old gits enjoying themselves, stacks of Lambrettas there as well
