I assumed this was a different team. Anyhoo, way I see it, if used correctly that amount of cash could be really great for grassroots football. If negotiated properly, it won’t affect England games. I then remember it’s the FA. Therefore it’ll be a cock up of biblical proportions.
I think Khan's intention is to move the Jacksonville Jaguars franchise to London. Whatever agreements the NFL have made will be separate. I assume the NFL will have to agree to him taking the team out of the USA
I've just re-read Khan's statement from yesterday and he states the franchise won't be moved from Jacksonville, in fact as part of the terms when he bought the club in 2012 the team must stay in Jacksonville. Doesn't say for how long though.
The last time I was down Wembley Way a guy came up to me and asked me if I'd like to own Wembley Stadium, Wembley Arena the conference centre and all the facilities. I said " Are you trying to give me a Complex ??
Don't understand the goodwill toward the FA in all of this. The organisation, although by no means as bad as FIFA, has always appeared to be an old boys club to me, obsessed with money, status and power rather than having the interests of grass-roots football as it's primary focus. How many times have we had to endure nauseous arseholes like Graham Kelly blustering their way through controversy without the remotest inkling of change? The following extract, even though it was from the Sun, just about sums it up for me: "Five former FA executives - Greg Dyke, David Bernstein, David Triesman, David Davies and Alex Horne - have called on Parliament's Culture, Media and Sport Committee to propose legislation to reform the FA. They say it is outdated, unable to counter the power of the Premier League and held back by "elderly white men". They said in a letter to Collins: "There are some 25 life vice-presidents on the FA Council - all elderly white men - who do not represent anyone but block even the most minor of changes." The Council, which has about 120 members, decides the major policies of the association. Most members are elected from football clubs and county associations at all levels of the game. Dyke has said that only four FA Council members are from ethnic minority backgrounds, only six are women and 80% are aged over 60. Do I care about Wembley being owned by an individual rather than the FA? - absolutely not. It will be great to see England touring regional grounds for all games, never mind just friendlies.

That's for international series games not a new franchise. The new WHL is too small for a franchise, it's too small for the international games as well but Daniel Levy somehow talked them into it.
True but if they played at WHL they'd get smaller crowds than they already get in Jacksonville, plus they'd have to pay rent and would lose further match day revenue. The interest is there to sell out Wembley, it already does for the international games and there's only going to be 8 home fixtures anyway.
The NFL will whore their teams out to any US city that offers the most cash I can’t see that going to London would be any different
And some thought travelling to Melton to see City would be a challenge. It's a bit ****ty when your home games are played on another continent.
If a team does move to London there'll have to come up with a suitable name. London Royals or something like that. Maybe they should give Papa Allam a call
I do, I went to a fair few games as a kid. It was fun while it lasted but it was doomed from the start. It's a different time now, interest in American Football has never been higher in the U.K plus moving an actual NFL franchise is very different to a new team playing in a league of rejects.
This was raised on a big scale a while ago, but they just don't say enough about what the actual problem is. Being old or white is not a flaw and it's it's pathetic that they make that the primary focus of their argument. The thing about blocking change needs more justification. What kind of thing have they tried to block? Presumably they helped block the change to Hull Tigers. If people keep coming up with bad ideas for change and they keep getting rejected, I wouldn't say that is a problem. Personally I have a big issue with the EFL for being so cosy with the member clubs and refusing to do anything in the way of regulating or keeping them in line. The FA being run by old people is in itself not an issue at all.
